  • Publication number: 20090012498
Abstract: The present invention provides a medicament comprising a gene encoding an angiogenic cytokine for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), idiopathic cardiomyopathy (ICM), dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) or heart failure, to be given in combination with ventricular assist device (VAD).

  • Publication number: 20070198053
Abstract: A cuff member that enhances the invasion and engraftment of cells from subcutaneous tissue of a living body and robustly adheres to the subcutaneous tissue through the vascularization of capillary vessels, and can consequently isolate a wound from the outside, block exacerbating factors such as bacterial infection during healing, inhibit the downgrowth, and reduce infection problems including tunnel infection. A cuff member 2 includes a flange 3 and a tubular portion 4. The cuff member 2 includes a three-dimensional network open-cell porous structure, which is formed of a thermoplastic resin or a thermosetting resin and has an average pore size of 100 to 1000 ?m and an apparent density of 0.01 to 0.5 g/cm3. A pad 5 overlies the flange 3. A tube 6 passes through the pad 5 and the flange 3.

  • Patent number: 6967003
Abstract: A membrane artificial lung performs gas exchange between blood and a gas via the membrane by flowing the blood in one side of the membrane and flowing oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas in the other side of the membrane. The membrane has a hollow fiber membrane of poly-4-methylpentene-1 and an oxygen permeation rate Q(O2) at 25° C. of from 1×10?6 to 3×10?3 (cm3(STP)/cm2·sec·cmHg) and an ethanol flux of from 0.1 to 100 ml/min·m2. The membrane has, in the side of the blood flow, a surface having an ionic complex derived from: quaternary aliphatic alkylammonium salts; and heparin or a heparin derivative. The quaternary alkylammonium salts are a quaternary aliphatic alkylammonium salt having from 22 to 26 carbon atoms in total and a quaternary aliphatic alkylammonium salt having from 37 to 40 carbon atoms in total.

  • Publication number: 20050107868
Abstract: The invention provides a porous scaffold for tissue engineering which allows easy cell engraftment and cell culture and thus enables stable organization and an artificial blood vessel which exhibits high patency rate even if the inner diameter is small. The scaffold for tissue engineering is made of thermoplastic resin which forms a porous three-dimensional network structure having communication property, wherein the porous three-dimensional network structure has an average pore diameter of from 100 to 650 ?m and an apparent density of from 0.01 to 0.5 g/cm3. The artificial blood vessel is composed of this scaffold.
