Abstract: An online system allows a user to specify a sequence of advertisement requests (“ad requests”) where a set of rules identifies an order in which advertisements from the ds requests are presented to a user based on interactions by the user with presented advertisements from ad requests in the sequence. When a user interacts with an advertisement from an ad request from the sequence, the online system identifies an additional ad request from the sequence identified by a rule identifying the interaction by the user with the advertisement. The online system includes the additional ad request in one or more selection processes selecting content for presentation to the user. In some embodiments, the online system identifies an ad request from the sequence to include in the one or more selection processes based on likelihoods of the user interacting with advertisements from various ad requests in the sequence.

Abstract: An authoring system and procedure for organizing photos (and other physical object types) are provided. Using the authoring system, an author organizes a set of physical objects into a particular story through an interface. Each physical object is associated with a specific identifier, such as a barcode, and the author uses an input device to scan identifiers of selected physical objects that are to be included within the particular story. The authoring process is performed off-line. Using the input device, the author adds her own commentary as part of building the story. For example, she can associate an audio clip with a particular physical object that makes up the story or with the entire story itself. In one embodiment, the input device includes a microphone for receiving voice input, as well as a barcode reader for scanning a particular barcode of a selected physical object. The author also selects one or more presentation styles that will be used to display the entire story.

Abstract: Fluid flow can be measured using a multiplicity of sensors in a manner that enables acquisition of detailed information regarding the fluid flow. In particular, the invention can advantageously be used in situations in which the measured fluid flow is anticipated to be turbulent. Even more particularly, the invention can be advantageously be used to obtain measurements of fluid flow in the vicinity of an animate object (e.g., human) which can be used, together with knowledge of the characteristics of the animate object and, if relevant, of one or more objects in the vicinity of the animate object, to determine an intention of, or an effect produced by, the animate object. The invention can be used by people in interacting with a large variety of devices to effect control of those devices.
