  • Publication number: 20240114816
Abstract: A wing flex assembly for a frame system of an agricultural implement that includes inner and outer tubes. The outer tube, to which tools of the implement are attached, is slidingly displaceable along the inner tube as the inner tube is downwardly pivotally displaced with a downward flex of a wing frame. A first tool of a center frame can be separated from an adjacent second tool of the wing frame that is attached to the outer tube by a first distance when the outer tube is at a retracted position, and a second distance when the outer tube is slidingly displaced in response to the downward pivotal displacement of the inner tube, the first distance being about equal to the second distance. The wing flex assembly can also prevent contact between the first and second tools when the inner tube is pivotally displaced in an upward direction.

  • Publication number: 20240057515
Abstract: A seed meter includes a meter housing having a first chamber for seeds and a second chamber. A seed disk is rotatably supported within the meter housing and has a first side and a second side. The first side is exposed to the first chamber and the second side is exposed to the second chamber. The seed disk includes a plurality of seed openings that extend between the first and second sides at a predetermined radial position. A singulator is positioned against the first side of the seed disk and has at least one structure for removing excess seeds from the seed openings as the seed meter disk rotates relative to the singulator. A radial position of the singulator is controlled at least in part by a hub portion of the seed meter. A biasing spring is positioned to exert an axially-oriented bias force pressing the singulator against the first side of the seed meter disk.

  • Patent number: 11849665
Abstract: A seed delivery system for use in a seeding or planting machine that removes the seed from a seed meter by capturing the seed therefrom. The delivery system then moves the seed down to a lower discharge point and accelerates the seed horizontally rearward to a speed approximately equal to the forward travel speed of the seeding machine such that the seed, when discharged has a low or zero horizontal velocity relative to the ground. Rolling of the seed in the trench is thus reduced. Furthermore, as the seed only has a short drop from the outlet to the bottom of the seed trench, the seed has little vertical speed to induce bounce. The delivery system uses a brush belt to capture, move and accelerate the seed. By capturing the seed and moving it from the meter to the discharge, the seed is held in place relative to other seeds and the planter row unit. As a result, the seeds are isolated from row unit dynamics thereby maintaining seed spacing.

  • Publication number: 20230397522
Abstract: An agricultural planting system comprises an implement configured to be coupled to a work machine, row units of the implement, and first and second pairs of wheels configured to pivot and rotate to facilitate a turning operation during forward travel of the planting system. The row units are arranged in first and second ranks depending on their forward-aft placement. Furrow openers of the first rank of row units are configured to contact the ground along a first contact line, and furrow openers of the second rank of row units are configured to contact the ground along a second contact line. During a turning operation, the implement turns about a turning center axis, and the first and second pairs of wheels pivot in opposite directions, which allows the first and second contact lines to remain equidistant from the turning center axis during the turn.

  • Publication number: 20230247935
Abstract: An agricultural work machine includes a frame and a tank coupled to the frame for storing a product. The tank includes a nozzle portion. A row unit is coupled to the frame and includes a hopper and a meter assembly. A product distribution line is coupled between the nozzle portion of the tank and the hopper. A blower is controlled to provide an air flow through the distribution line to transfer product from the tank to the row unit, and a mechanism located in the tank above the nozzle portion is controllable between an open position and a closed position. In the open position, the product in the tank flows through the mechanism into the nozzle portion, and in the closed position, the mechanism blocks the product in the tank from flowing into the nozzle portion.
