  • Patent number: 4509322
Abstract: A false twist unit comprises a suction portion with a suction channel and with an expansion space connected at the throat portion or narrowest position of the suction channel, which expansion space is connected by means of an air connector or exit to a source of negative pressure. A throttle location connects the expansion space with a pneumatic twist imparting means. In the pneumatic false twist spinning process known from the German published Pat. No. 2,722,319 a sliver delivered from an exit roller pair of a drafting mechanism is forwarded through the suction channel in a predetermined direction and thereafter through the throttle location into the twist imparting means. The twist imparting means produces in the core of the yarn or thread a false twist which builds up in such yarn or thread towards the exit roller pair. The wrapping fibers required for the finished yarn or thread are sucked in as edge fibers through the suction channel simultaneously with the yarn core.

  • Patent number: 4426836
Abstract: The invention concerns a spinning preparatory machine with suspended pivotable flyers arranged in at least one row. The flyers are supported in a frame composed of a longitudinal beam and two arms and arranged at right angles thereto, which frame is pivotable about a pivoting axis between an operating position and a doffing position. A pivoting and loading system is connected with the frame in such a manner that the frame is locked in its operating position. The spinning preparatory machine according to the invention shows, among others, the advantage of an accurate positioning of the pivotable flyers in a locked operating position, high operational reliability and affords safety against accidents from occurring.

  • Patent number: 4389840
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method of automatically doffing the full bobbin packages from, and donning the empty bobbin tubes onto, the spindles of a preparatory spinning machine equipped with flyers. The flyers are of the so-called suspended type, i.e. they are rotatably supported in a flyer head. For the conjoint, vertical doffing of the full bobbin packages, and for the conjoint, vertical donning of the empty bobbin tubes the flyers are pivoted to the side in such manner, that they cannot obstruct the doffing of the full bobbins any more. The inventive preparatory spinning machine comprises a common support beam in which the flyers are rotatably supported, in which arrangement the beam can effect a translatory movement in such manner that each flyer can be brought into an inclined position.

  • Patent number: 4389752
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and an apparatus for producing a draftable staple fibre sliver (12) from a strand (12) of endless filaments, which is united and condensed for further processing. According to the invention the zone of the united and condensed sliver, from which, due to the cutting process, fibre points stick away inclined and pointed towards the front and outside, is inserted into the inside of the sliver. In this manner the detrimental effects, caused by the fibre points sticking out, are eliminated. Particularly the defective points in the end product produced, caused by these fibre points, are eliminated, fly waste generation in the processing room is reduced and, owing to the reduction of the danger of clogging of the fibre sliver guiding funnels, the operational reliability of the subsequent processing machines is improved.

  • Patent number: 4375744
Abstract: The invention concerns an apparatus for controlling the rotational speed of the spindles of a spinning preparatory machine equipped with spindles and flyers. The proposed control arrangement comprises an infinitely variable variator, which is adapted or adjusted by using a control shaft which is rotatably indexed or stepped. The control or adjustment shaft is moved by a control motor which received its control or switching impulses from a motor control device comprising a programmable indicator or set value transmitter for the desired or set value and a correction element.According to a particularly advantageous design the correction element is of the form of a crossbar distributor arrangement. The apparatus is comfortable and easy to use by the operating personnel and permits, among other advantages, extremely accurate adaptation or adjustment of the spindle rotational speed. The adaption operations can be effected while the machine is running.

  • Patent number: 4370850
Abstract: Tension is reduced in the unwound length of roving remaining between the drafting mechanism and the package after the frame has been brought to a halt. This can be done by additional feed from the drafting mechanism after stopping of the other elements of the frame. A tension adjusting means is coupled into the drive to the rollers of the drafting mechanism to advance the mechanism the desired amount. The degree of feed may be different depending upon whether the stoppage is due to a break at one of a group of flyers, or to a doffing operation.

  • Patent number: 4199333
Abstract: A filter box contains within a rotatably mounted filter, structured as a drum, a fiber preseparator cooperating with such filter. The fiber preseparator has a ventilator at its inlet and operatively flow communicates with a fiber separator. This fiber separator contains a movable plunger or equivalent structure, by means of which the separated fibers are compacted and ejected into a collecting container. The air flowing through the filter effluxes through an opening in the filter box into the machine room or area containing the textile machines with which the filter box is used. The air responsible for transport of the fibers from the preseparator into the fiber separator, following separation from the fibers, is returned back to the suction side of the ventilator and again into the preseparator. A suction tube cooperates with the inner side or wall of the rotating filter drum. This suction tube likewise flow communicates with the suction side of the ventilator by means of a dust separator.
