  • Publication number: 20210283340
Abstract: The present invention relates to a drug delivery device that houses a piston equipped cartridge and a drive mechanism comprising a piston rod (170) configured for axially moving the piston in a distal direction. An adjustment member (150) connects to the member (150) comprises a first contour system (175) defining a plurality of steps (175?, 175?, 175??) being circumferentially disposed and arranged axially offset from one another. The other of the piston rod (170) and the adjustment member (150) comprises at least one radially disposed protrusion (155). For eliminating an axial clearance between the piston rod (170) and the piston of the cartridge the at least one radially disposed protrusion (155) axially engages a selective one of said plurality of steps (175?, 175?, 175??) so that the relative rotational position between the piston rod (170) and the adjustment member (150) is decisive for the axial position of the adjustment member (150) relative to the piston rod (170).

  • Publication number: 20210275749
Abstract: The present invention relates to a drug delivery device for expelling a dose of drug from a held cartridge and that defines a distal drug outlet end and an opposite proximal end. The drug delivery device comprises: a distal housing component (110) holding a cartridge (113) comprising a liquid drug and a piston slideable arranged therein in an axial direction, and a proximal housing component (101) housing a dose setting and expelling mechanism comprising a piston rod for exerting a force on the piston of the cartridge (113) in a distal direction for expelling a dose. The distal housing component (110) and the proximal housing component (101) are displaceably arranged in axial direction relative to each other for reducing an axial distance between the piston rod (120) and the piston of the cartridge (113).

  • Patent number: 10485927
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of assembling a drug delivery device which in the assembled state defines a distal housing component (102) that houses a piston equipped cartridge (189), and a proximal housing component (101) that houses a dose setting and expelling mechanism. The method includes the steps of arranging the cartridge (189) in the distal housing component (102), arranging a nut element (140) threadedly engaged with a piston rod (107) in the distal housing component (102), and securing the nut element (140) relative to the distal housing component (102) into a selective one of a series of predetermined relative orientations for obtaining a predetermined axial clearance or abutment between the piston rod (107) and the piston of the cartridge (189). The invention further relates to a drug delivery device assembled according to the method.

  • Patent number: 10350369
Abstract: The present invention relates to an injection apparatus for injecting a pharmaceutical liquid drug into the skin of a user. The injection apparatus can be in form of an injection device carrying a needle cannula or in the shape of a needle assembly (10) attachable to an injection device. The outer shell of the injection apparatus is a protective shield (10) divided into different segments (10a, 10b). These segments are preferably spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction to move individually in the axial direction. Further, the segments are provided with tilting means (14, 15) which are activated to move neighboring segments (10a, 10b) apart upon relative axial movement of one or more segments (10a, 10b) whenever an uneven force is applied to the distal end of the shield.

  • Publication number: 20180221563
Abstract: The invention relates to a torsion spring driven injection device for apportioning individually set doses of a liquid drug. The injection device has a needle cannula (35) for multiple uses and a cleaning chamber (56) for cleaning the tip of the needle cannula between subsequent injections. The cleaning chamber is filled with preservative containing liquid drug directly from the cartridge (30) in a filling sequence which is executed when the user initiates first use of the injection device. The sequence comprises the step of securing the piston rod guide in an inrotatable position and thereafter moving the cartridge in a proximal direction. Such axial movement of the cartridge without a similar movement of the plunger automatically pumps liquid drug from the cartridge and into the cleaning chamber via the lumen of the needle cannula.

  • Publication number: 20160361505
Abstract: The present invention relates to an injection apparatus in which a cartridge has a distal end sealed by a pierceable flexible septum abutting a pressure element. Further a shielded needle cannula penetrates the distal septum. This pressure element is axially movable whenever the shield is axially moved such that the volume of cartridge decreases. A motion transforming means transforms axial movement of the shield into axial movement of the pressure element via a rotational movement of the motion transforming means.
