    Abstract: The present invention refers to new etherified hydroxy-alkyl phosphonic acid derivatives of the general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R stands for 2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-benzofuran-7-yl, 4-methyl-coumarin-7-yl, 2,2,4-trimethyl-(2H)-chromen-5-yl or 2,2,4-trimethyl-(2H)-chromen-7,yl,R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different and stand for hydrogen, C.sub.1-8 alkyl, C.sub.1-4 halogen-alkyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy-C.sub.1-2 alkyl, Me stands for a monovalent cation.The new compounds can be used as active ingredients of plant growth regulating agents.
