  • Patent number: 9933163
Abstract: A combustor arrangement includes a combustion chamber with a front panel, and a premix burner of the multi-cone type, which is connected to the front panel through an elongated mixing zone in an axially moveable fashion by a sealed sliding joint. A wide range of axial variation of the burner with a minimized influence of the leakage air flow on the oxidation process within the flame is achieved by positioning the sealed sliding joint upstream of the mixing zone.

  • Patent number: 9810152
Abstract: The invention concerns a gas turbine combustion system, including a gas turbine. The gas turbine includes at least one compressor, at least one combustion chamber for generating working gas, wherein the combustion chamber connected to receive compressed air from the compressor, at least one turbine connected to receive working gas from the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber consists of an individual can-combustor or comprising a number of can-combustors arranged in an annular can-architecture, wherein the can-combustor having at least one premixed burner. The ignition of the mixture starts at the premixed burner outlet and the flame is stabilized in the region of the premixed burner outlet by means of a backflow zone. The can-combustor comprising a number of premixed burners arranged uniformly or divided at least in two groups within the can-combustor.

  • Patent number: 9664390
Abstract: The invention refers to burner arrangement for producing hot gases to be expanded in a gas turbine, including a burner inside a plenum, where the burner has means for fuel injection, means for air supply and means for generating an ignitable fuel/air mixture inside the burner, and a combustion chamber following downstream said burner having an outlet being fluidly connected to the gas turbine. The invention is characterized in that the means for air supply includes at least two separate flow passages, and that the one of the two flow passages is fed by a first supply pressure and the other flow passage is fed by a second supply pressure.

  • Patent number: 9441837
Abstract: The invention relates to a premix burner of the multi-cone type for a gas turbine that includes a plurality of shells which are arranged around a central burner axis and are parts of a virtual, axially extending common cone, which opens in a downstream direction, whereby said parts are displaced perpendicular to said burner axis such that a tangential slot is defined between each pair of adjacent shells. The flame front of such a burner is stabilized by providing a virtual common cone with a cone angle, which varies in axial direction.

  • Publication number: 20160146464
Abstract: The present invention relates to a gas turbine combustor comprising: a flow sleeve; a combustion liner located at least partially within the flow sleeve thereby creating a main passage between the flow sleeve and the combustor liner; a dome located forward of the flow sleeve and encompassing at least a part of the combustion liner, the dome having a substantially rounded head end thereby forming a turning passage between the liner and the head end; and a swirler wall aligned along a centerline of the combustor, the swirler wall projecting into the liner, wherein the swirler wall and the rounded head end are connected, wherein the connection forms an annular end face.

  • Patent number: 5984670
Abstract: A burner for liquid and/or gaseous fuels (A, B, C) for a premixing combustion system in graduated load operation of a combustion chamber includes at least one inner partial body (2) that extends in the flow direction; at least one outer partial body (4) which extends conically opposite to the inner partial body (2); and at least one other surrounding pipe (8). The inner and outer partial bodies form a central flow structure, whereby the two are supplied with the flow in effective connection with each other with combustion air (13, 14, 15). The main part of this combustion air (13) then flows through the two partial bodies through air inlet slits (11, 12) and forms one rotational flow in each of the adjoining flow chamber (5, 7).
