  • Patent number: 5433129
Abstract: An automatic screw gun which has a guide housing for the driving blade is equipped with a deflecting member that engages the leading end of the screw supply belt to deflect the leading end of the belt out of the path of the screw being driven, including the screw head or a washer below the screw head, whereby it is prevented that portions of the belt can be clamped between the surface of a work piece and the screw head or washer. A spring biases the deflector member into a rest position and the advancing belt brings the deflector member into a working position in which it holds the leading end of the belt out of the way.

  • Patent number: 4641772
Abstract: A driving device for securing fasteners (7) such as nails, staples, etc., which are stored in a magazine (6) to be supplied to an ejection channel (5) provided with an opening (8) closed by a spring biased nose plate (9) elastically held by a spring (14) against the opening (8) of the ejection channel (5) in the nose portion (4) on the side opposite the magazine (6). When jamming occurs between a driving plunger (2) and fastener (7), the nose plate (9) lifts itself against the bias of the spring, whereby jamming is frequently avoided automatically. If jamming occurs nevertheless, the nose plate (9) may be completely removed from the opening (8) of the ejection channel (5) so that the jamming may easily be cleared. Potential jamming situations are often avoided since the nose plate (9) may deflect to partially open the ejection channel (5).

  • Patent number: 3969989
Abstract: An impact drive tool has a cylinder within which a percussive piston is mounted for actuating a ram to drive a nail into a workpiece. Valve means are provided for introducing compressed air to one side of the piston to cause the impact stroke, and an air storage chamber is provided for returning the piston to its rest position. A truncated cone shaped first buffer element of a cellular polyurethane is affixed to the bottom of the percussive piston. A second buffer element of a harder material, such as a cross-linked polyurethane is mounted in the bottom of the cylinder. The second buffer element has a recess facing the first buffer element and shaped to receive the first element. The buffer elements are positioned so that, at the end of an impact stroke, the first buffer element is initially deformed, followed by the striking of a bottom portion of the piston on the second buffer element to absorb the impact energy.
