  • Patent number: 10372389
Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for executing various types of maintenance operations upon various types of printers. The maintenance operations can include preemptive actions that are taken upon a printer that is being operated in a certain environment, the preemptive actions based on evaluating operational statistics associated with a set of similar printers operated in a similar environment. The operational statistics, which are automatically accumulated over a period of time for various printers under various operating conditions, can be implemented in various ways, such as in the form of behavioral models and/or predictive models. In some embodiments, the behavioral models and/or predictive models indicate an expected-time-to-failure of a component when a printer is operated in a certain environment.

Date of Patent: August 6, 2019
    Assignee: Datamax-O'Neil Corporation

  • Publication number: 20190079880
Abstract: Systems and methods for configuring the settings of a peripheral device are provided. In one implementation, a method includes a step of determining when the peripheral device is powered up and in communication with a host device. The method further includes the step of reading configuration settings associated with an operating system of the host device when the peripheral device is determined to be powered up and in communication with the host device. Also, the method includes communicating the configuration settings associated with the operating system of the host device to the peripheral device for configuring the settings of the peripheral device.

  • Patent number: 10185860
Abstract: A method for evaluating an output pattern printed on a medium is described. A reference pattern is stored. The output pattern is printed on the medium based correspondingly on the stored reference pattern. A scan based instance of the output pattern is rendered, which has a set of features at least corresponding to the printed output pattern and zero or more features additional thereto. A difference image, having the zero or more features of the rendered scan instance, is computed based on a comparison of the rendered scan instance to the stored reference pattern. Upon the zero or more features including at least one feature, the computed difference image is evaluated in relation to a proximity of at least one feature to locations pixels of the reference pattern.

  • Patent number: 9864891
Abstract: A label printing device and method include a proportional-integral-derivative controller and a variable speed printer motor. The variable speed printer motor is connected to the proportion-integral-derivative controller, and has an automatically optimized printing speed determined by a print duration history of one or more previously completed print jobs.
