  • Patent number: 9045070
Abstract: A tie down device for tie down application including a D-ring with overmold used for a motor vehicle to secure cargo of various shapes and sizes using removable straps. The tie down device includes a D-ring, an overmold plastic portion, bracket portion, and an interior bracket. The tie down device withstands a minimum load requirement suitable to secure a cargo in place. A round steel bar is shaped into the D-ring feature and inserted into the mold for forming the overmold plastic portion. The plastic forms in an overmold around the metal material into the desired shape. The molding process obtains the features and shape required from at least a visual perspective and the round steel bar, which is partially encapsulated by the overmold plastic portion, provides strength to meet the predetermined load requirements. The interior bracket acts as a spring to control the tension of the bracket portion.

  • Patent number: 7191493
Abstract: A grab handle and bezel assembly includes a bezel and a grab handle capable of being received within the bezel. The grab handle is generally non-circular in cross section for properly locating the grab handle within the bezel and for preventing rotation of the grab handle. For example, the grab handle can be D-shaped in cross section having an arcuate surface portion defining a Class “A” surface that is visible to an occupant, and a flat surface portion defining a Class “B” surface that is not visible to the occupant. In this manner, an amount of Class “A” surface treatment of the grab handle can be minimized, thereby reducing the cost of the grab handle and bezel assembly. The grab handle and bezel assembly can securely mounted to a trim component, such as a door bolster, by disposing opposite ends of the grab handle between opposing walls of the bezel and passing a fastener through the door bolster, the bezel and the grab handle.

  • Patent number: 6938940
Abstract: An overhead storage assembly is disclosed. The overhead storage assembly comprises a tray, a housing structure, and a first and second pair of track members. The first pair of track members are slidably moveable with respect to the housing structure. The second pair of track members are slidably moveably with respect to the first pair of track members. The tray is attached to the second pair of track members. A method of cycling the overhead storage assembly is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6581311
Abstract: A clip assembly presents indicia on an interior panel of a vehicle. The clip assembly has a face plate having indicia thereon and a base for mounting the clip assembly to the interior panel. The face plate has at least two barbed posts. The base has a contour which is asymmetrical in at least one direction. The base engages with a complementarily shaped recess on the interior panel such that the base is received therein in only one orientation. The base has at least two complementary apertures receiving the posts. The apertures and the posts are constructed and arranged such that the face plate engages the base through the interior panel in only one orientation relative thereto, enabling the face plate to be attached to the interior panel presenting the indicia in a predetermined readable orientation.
