  • Patent number: 4505285
Abstract: An umbrella suitable for mounting over a surface which allows selective venting of air trapped within the covered area is disclosed. The umbrella includes a vertical support structure (12) which comprises a rod (16) having a first end (20) and a further end (18). The further end (18) is conventionally mounted such that the longitudinal axis of the vertical support structure (12) extends substantially perpendicular to the covered surface. A canopy member (14) is carried by the first end of the vertical support structure and defines an opening (22) such that air currents flow through the opening (22) in an upwardly direction and heat may be readily dissipated from beneath the canopy (14). Also provided are mounting means (24) for holding the canopy member (14) at a preselected height while keeping the opening (22) as free from obstructions as is possible to allow fluid communication between the spaces above and below the canopy (14).

  • Patent number: 4448432
Abstract: A sabre saw chuck for securing the shank of one or more files/rasps to the standard head of a sabre saw such that the reciprocating motion of the saw head is imparted to the file/rasp secured thereon. The chuck includes an adaptor body having a centrally disposed bore which receives the sabre saw head. Means are provided which extend through the adaptor body for securing the adaptor body in position on the sabre saw head. The adaptor body includes at least one groove disposed proximate its perimeter for receiving the shank of a file/rasp. A sleeve is telescoped over the adaptor body and secures the file/rasp shank or shanks in position such that reciprocation of the saw head imparts a like reciprocating motion to the file/rasp carried by the chuck.

  • Patent number: 4446797
Abstract: A self-contained vault unit which contains a plurality of safety deposit boxes is disclosed. The vault apparatus includes means which define a secure interior chamber in which the safety deposit boxes are positioned. An entrance into the chamber is secured and selectively openable, preferably by security personnel. A plurality of elongated rows of cabinet sections are arranged in a substantially parallel relationship. The cabinet sections define a plurality of openings having preselected cross-sectional outlines which are proportioned for receiving the safety deposit boxes. Each of the boxes includes a lock for securing the box within the cabinet section upon moving the box to its closed position. A plurality of booths are strategically positioned about the vault apparatus for the convenience of customers to inspect the box contents.

  • Patent number: 4398840
Abstract: A frame member connection assembly for a fence gate which enables adjustment of the substantially horizontally disposed frame members such that they extend parallel with the supporting surface and assist in preventing unnecessary gaps between the gate and such supporting surface. The connection assembly includes a mating pair of brackets, each of which have a receptacle for receiving juxtaposed end portions of joined frame members. A connector member is mounted on one end portion of each of the receptacles and is designed for being connected with the mating connector member of the mating bracket for receiving and holding the juxtaposed end portions of the joined gate frame members. The connection assembly supports the frame members in such a manner that their centrally disposed longitudinal axis substantially intersect, to facilitate rotation of the joined frame members with respect to each other to a desired position where they are secured.
