  • Patent number: 10425212
Abstract: Format of a downlink control channel for a user equipment UE is changed in conjunction with switching the UE between being enabled for cross carrier scheduling and being disabled for cross carrier scheduling. The changed format is used on at least one serving cell of the UE's configured set of component carriers CCs. In one embodiment the changed format comprises an explicit carrier indicator field CIF for the case in which the switching is from disabled to enabled; and the changed format has no explicit CIF when the switching is from enabled to disabled. In another embodiment switching from disabled to enabled comprises the UE's configured set of CCs being changed from one to multiple cells; and switching from enabled to disabled comprises the UE's configured set of CCs being changed from multiple cells to one cell. In one embodiment the changed format is implicit.

  • Patent number: 9414223
Abstract: A method for security for inter-RAT carrier aggregation is disclosed. The method includes encrypting a message using an encryption technique for a first RAT. The method also includes sending, to a UE, at least a portion of the encrypted message using a different, second RAT. Sending using the second RAT does not further encrypt the at least a portion of the encrypted message. The method further includes receiving the at least a portion of the message encrypted using the first RAT protocol. Receiving uses the second, different RAT. The method also includes decrypting the at least a portion of the message using the first RAT protocol. Apparatus and computer readable media are also described.

  • Publication number: 20140254398
Abstract: Systems and techniques for data traffic management are described. A base station providing data communication services to user devices and capable of transferring traffic to one or more wireless network access points receives data queuing latency information relating to data queuing latency experienced by the one or more user devices, access points, or both. The base station makes determinations relating to offloading of traffic to access points, such as from wireless cellular network frequencies to wireless local area network resources, based on the latency information.
