  • Patent number: 5120213
Abstract: Apparatus for producing press-molded articles having a plurality of cavities therein includes a mold cavity which can be filled with a particulate molding compound, which mold cavity contains rods sheathed with expandable tubes which can be expanded by means of a fluid under pressure conveyed into the space between the rods and the tubes: this causes compaction of the molding compound to form the pressed article, which can be removed from the mold after reduction of the fluid pressure to allow detumescence of the expandable tubes and withdrawal of these from the mold cavity so that the mold cavity can be opened to remove the shaped pressed article.

  • Patent number: 4950473
Abstract: Apparatus and method for reducing nitrogen oxides in flue gas within a flue gas duct includes a number of distributor tubes for the injection of a reducing agent into the flue gas within the duct. Each distributor tube includes a control valve to be able to set an appropriate injection of the reducing agent to respond to different concentrations of the nitrogen oxides within the flue gas over the cross section of the flue gas duct. Each distributor tube comprises at least two parallel distributor tube segments which extend from opposite sides of the flue gas duct to the center of the flue gas duct. • Patent number: 4935392
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the manufacture of catalysts for the reduction of oxides of nitrogen from exhaust gases and in chemical air cleaning processes in which a catalytically active material containing iron ores, chromium ores and/or zeolite is placed in contact with a carrier means having a series of openings; e.g., wire mesh, expanded or perforated metal or any type of grid-like structure to form a catalytic member. The carrier means is etched with an acid etchant before forming the catalytic member or, instead, the catalytic member is etched with an acid etchant. The catalytic member is bonded by a thermal treatment; e.g., drying, tempering and/or fixing. This invention also relates to catalytic members or products produced by the process. This invention proposes the use of pressure bonding to obtain a catalytic member product which has significantly improved catalytic activity, greater mechanical strength and higher resistance to chipping.

  • Patent number: 4788023
Abstract: A process and apparatus for producing a dry-pressed molding from a particulate or granular molding material such as a ceramic molding composition in which the composition is initially drawn into a loading cavity by applying a vacuum thereto. The loading cavity is formed by a first mold half and a shooting head having a molding surface the shape of which determines the shape of a premolding which is formed upon entry of the composition into the loading cavity and sufficiently compressed to retain its shape after the shooting head has been removed to allow a second mold half to be positioned over the first mold half.

  • Patent number: 4724888
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing flaskless foundry molds made up of copes and drags of wet casting foundry sand, which is blasted into a cavity to form the mold with the use of vacuum. The sand is pressed mechanically while aspirating air therefrom. The gap coming into existence between the pressing plate and the back side of a mold during pneumatic impact compaction is filled with sand before pressing so that a flat back side is produced on the mold so that when casting takes place later there is not danger of the bottom of the mold fracturing or of deformation taking place.

  • Patent number: 4721450
Abstract: A device for producing ceramic mouldings is disclosed comprising an isostatic press-mould half having an isostatic pressure membrane and an injection head having an inlet opening for introducing granulate and an extraction orifice for sucking the granulate in or out of the mould cavity. The injection head is spring-mounted on a press crosspiece which supports it, so that, as the injection head moves towards the isostatic press-mould half, a sealing pressure slowly forms between the injection head and the isostatic press-mould half and as the injection head moves away from the isostatic press-mould half this sealing pressure is slowly reduced.

  • Patent number: 4704082
Abstract: The invention concerns an isostatic press mold for producing moldings from powdery ceramic material. The mold comprises two mold parts which are movable relative to one another between a mold-closed position and a mold-open position and which, in the mold-closed position, define between them a mold cavity. On at least one of the mold parts, there is a press diaphragm which on one side defines part of the limiting surface of the mold cavity and on the other side is subjected to a pressure fluid. On its said other side, that is to say on its side facing away from the mold cavity, the press diaphragm is designed with a plurality of recess spaces so that the press mold can be deformed, while at the same time reducing the internal stresses occurring in it.

  • Patent number: 4702301
Abstract: For the production of horizontally divided flaskless foundry molds a mold making plant is employed consisting of a vacuum mold blowing machine, joined with a casting and cooling line and a shake out station. The vacuum mold blowing machine is provide with a pattern plate swapping device and designed in the form of a single station mold making maching, in which drags and copes of a mold are produced alternately. The single mold flask is part of the mold making machine and has means for stripping it from a drag or cope before removal of the same from the machine. This makes it possible to have one core insertion station with space for a plurality of drag without having more than one machine flask.

  • Patent number: 4656148
Abstract: In a process for the reactivation of a catalyst, which is used for the removal of NO.sub.x, oxides of nitrogen, from exhaust gases, the catalyst should be capable of easy reactivation. For this purpose, when the catalyst starts to lose its activity, it is exposed in a reducing atmosphere to a carbon monoxide current. In an apparatus for the execution of the process, the catalyst is placed in two separate chambers. The carbon monoxide stream is directed alternately to both chambers.

  • Patent number: 4593740
Abstract: A foundry mold making machine is so designed that at the start of the process of moving the pattern assembly clear of the mold, compressed air is supplied through the pattern assembly until a gap or narrow space has been formed between the mold and the pattern. In this respect an air-tight connection is maintained between the pattern plate support and the flask until the compressed air supplied to the gap has been relaxed. In this way it is possible to make certain that there is no damage to the edges of the mold by suddenly letting off air.

  • Patent number: 4588368
Abstract: In an apparatus for producing molded articles from a pourable compound, such as an oxide-ceramic compound, for example a porcelain compound, an injection chamber is formed between an isostatic compression molding tool and an injection chamber. A suction opening is connected to the injection chamber. The pourable compound is supplied through an inlet opening. A fluidizing air inlet line is positioned in the compound inlet opening and it is movable relative to the inlet opening so that it can be placed in an open or closed position for admitting or blocking flow of the compound into the injection chamber.

  • Patent number: 4586555
Abstract: A mold making machine the production of flaskless molds is made up of a sand supply container, with a blowing and squeezing grid at its lower, that is able to be moved vertically, a hollow pattern plate mount, valve and duct means connected with the said mount, and drag and cope flasks that are fitted around said sand container for vertical motion in relation thereto. At the start of a mold producing operation the drag flask is placed under the cope flask on the container. This design of the molding machine enables it to be used for the alternate production of flaskless drags and copes which are made into block molds.

  • Patent number: 4560336
Abstract: Apparatus for producing moldings from a dry, particulate or granular material such as a ceramic molding composition, comprises a first mold half carried on the base of a press, while a vacuum shooting head, a second mold half and a removal head are carried on a movable carriage supported by a press head of the press. The carriage is displaceable transversely of the pressing direction so that the vacuum shooting head, the second mold half, and the removal head can be successively brought into alignment with the first mold half to allow the molding process to be performed rapidly and continuously without long gaps in the successive pressing stages.

  • Patent number: 4544345
Abstract: In the production of molded articles from a pourable substance, such as a porcelain substance, a hollow mold space is formed between a pair of horizontally displaceable compression mold parts. In the closed molding position, the mold parts are is spaced relation and form an annular gap laterally enclosing the mold space. An annular member forms a closure for the gap. The pourable substance is introduced into a passage through the closure member and through the gap into the mold space. A vacuum system is provided in the closure member in communication with the mold space during the step of filling the pourable substance into the mold space.
