  • Publication number: 20220048393
Abstract: Examples provide a method and system for inhibiting aircraft electrical power system controller failsafe state cycling in air mode condition. The electrical power system controller can include a bus power control unit (BPCU) or a generator control unit (GCU). A failsafe cycling protection indicator, such as a software flag or hardware electronic latch has a first configuration to indicate failsafe cycling protection is enabled and a second configuration to indicate failsafe cycling protection is disabled. An internal low voltage power source generates an output voltage. If a monitor component monitoring the output voltage detects an undervoltage or overvoltage, the aircraft electrical power system controller goes into a failsafe state. A failsafe cycling component prevents the aircraft electrical power system controller from exiting the failsafe state if the failsafe cycling protection is enabled.

  • Patent number: 10830806
Abstract: A method for managing power in an airplane. Power quality data and load management data are collected from airplane systems in the airplane at a variable sampling rate using data collectors assigned to the airplane systems in which the variable sampling rate increases in response to a selected trigger event. The power quality data and the load management data are received by a power monitor from the data collectors during phases of flight for the airplane. A group of load management operations for the airplane systems are performed by a load manager in the airplane during operation of the airplane. The group of load management operations is performed using the power quality data and the load management data received from the data collectors during the phases of flight for the airplane.

  • Patent number: 8861147
Abstract: A system and method for protecting a power system. A generator is tripped in response to identifying a current on the generator that is greater than a first current threshold for a first time delay. The generator is also tripped in response to identifying the current on the generator that is greater than a second current threshold for a second time delay. The first current threshold is larger than the second current threshold and the first time delay is shorter than the second time delay.
