  • Publication number: 20070210464
Abstract: The invention is a mold and method for using the mold to make a multi-stage intraocular lens. The mold is provided with a gate in fluid communication with a lens portion and/or haptic portion of the mold core. In addition, a gasket is provided around the mold core. As molding material is introduced into the mold via the gate, a vacuum is drawn around and through the gasket to evacuate air trapped in the mold core and to help pull the material through the mold core.

  • Patent number: 6488708
Abstract: An open chamber, accommodative, intraocular lens method and apparatus operable to be positioned within an evacuated capsular bag of a human eye following extracapsular extraction of a natural crystalline lens is provided having an anterior refractive lens optic, a first haptic segment having a first end and being connected at said first end to a peripheral portion of said anterior lens optic and a second end and said haptic segment extending in an elliptical curve, in longitudinal cross-section, along the the line of sight of the lens and at least a second haptic segment having a first end and being connected at said first end to a peripheral portion of said lens optic and a second end and said at least a second haptic segment extending in an elliptical curve, in longitudinal cross-section, and being operably joined with the second end of said first haptic segment to form an open chamber, elliptical shaped haptic accommodating support for the anterior lens within an evacuated capsular bag of a human eye.

  • Patent number: 5476512
Abstract: An intraocular lens assembly is presented for implantation into the posterior chamber after rupture of the posterior capsule during extracapsular extraction, using the capsulorhexis technique, of the natural lens assembly. The lens assembly has anterior ciliary sulcus haptics and posterior capsular bag haptics which straddle the remaining anterior capsule.

  • Patent number: 5304561
Abstract: A method and materials for stimulating healing of denuded areas in trabecular meshwork cells is disclosed which may be used to treat glaucoma.

  • Patent number: 5275623
Abstract: An elliptical accommodative intraocular lens assembly is provided for placement in the evacuated capsular bag of the posterior chamber of an eye after a small incision capsulorhexis, such that as the capsular bag is pulled and released by ciliary muscles, the lenses approach and withdraw from each other to provide focal accommodation.

  • Patent number: 5190057
Abstract: A method of sealing the corneal incision resulting from cataract surgery is presented. The edges of the incision are maneuvered under a keratoscope until an undistorted corneal surface is obtained. Biological glue is then applied to the maneuvered incision. The seal provides for greatly reduced postoperative astigmatism.

  • Patent number: 4946469
Abstract: An improved intraocular lens is provided which has a central optical portion formed of, for example, PMMA, and a soft, flexible supporting portion extending radially therefrom to support the intraocular lens in the evacuated posterior capsule of a human eye. The supporting portion is shaped to be compatible with the shape of the evacuated posterior capsule, and its outer periphery is rounded to softly fit into and be supported by the capsule without any pressure points.
