  • Patent number: 10373400
Abstract: A vehicle email notification system and method in which triggers are used to initiate the generation and transmission of email messages that provide diverse types of dynamic vehicle information to the owner or other authorized subscriber. The email notifications are triggered by different events, some of which are independent of the vehicle (e.g., a 30 day trigger to provide the subscriber with a monthly vehicle status report), and others of which occur at the vehicle, such as a mileage or low oil life trigger. Upon occurrence of a trigger, the notification system builds and sends to the subscriber an email message that contains the dynamic vehicle information and identifies any detected vehicle condition for which action is needed.

Date of Patent: August 6, 2019
    Assignee: GENERAL MOTORS LLC
Inventors: Shane McCutchen, Neelie A. Kapral, Chester A. Huber, Christopher L. Oesterling, John J. Correia, Walter A. Dorfstatter, Fahd Laghrari, Steven Samolinski
  • Publication number: 20070191995
Abstract: A vehicle email notification system and method in which subscribers can enroll via a call to a wireless assistance center or via a website, or automatically at delivery using a customer delivery record supplied by the dealer to a wireless assistance center. Once enrolled, the subscriber receives periodic email messages that provide diverse types of dynamic vehicle information. The email notifications are triggered by different events, some of which are independent of the vehicle (e.g., a monthly trigger), and others of which occur at the vehicle, such as a mileage or low oil life trigger. The notification system builds and sends to the subscriber an email message that contains the dynamic vehicle information and identifies any detected vehicle condition for which action is needed.

  • Publication number: 20070179799
Abstract: A method and system for user-initiated vehicle email notifications in which an owner or user of the vehicle initiates the generation and transmission of an email message that provides diverse types of dynamic vehicle information to the owner or other authorized subscriber. The email notification can be triggered at the vehicle using the vehicle's telematics unit or from anywhere by a call to a call center that then communicates with the vehicle. Notifications can also be triggered by different events, some of which are independent of the vehicle (e.g., a monthly trigger), and others of which occur at the vehicle, such as a mileage or low oil life trigger. The notification system builds and sends to the subscriber an email message that contains the dynamic vehicle information and identifies any detected vehicle condition for which action is needed.

  • Patent number: 7239859
Abstract: The current invention provides a method for establishing a telephony data connection to a receiver. The telephony data connection is initiated at a source location. A carrier signal is generated for the connection and the carrier signal is modified. The modified carrier signal is sent to the receiver. Identification data is received from the receiver. A computer usable medium with suitable computer program code is employed for establishing a telephony data connection to a receiver.

  • Publication number: 20070038510
Abstract: A method for acquiring marketing information from a marketing call center. The method involves a setting of a marketing information trigger based on a pre-determined event corresponding to at least one of a vehicle and an in-vehicle telematics unit, and an initiation of a call to the marketing call center to acquire the marketing information in response to an occurrence of the pre-determined event.

  • Publication number: 20060160575
Abstract: A method for recognizing an attempted data connection in a wireless network between a telematics unit and a call center using a modem. During the connection attempt, a determination is made whether frequencies received through the modem are audio frequencies or data frequencies. The connection is abandoned prior to a time-out if frequencies received through the modem are audio frequencies.

  • Publication number: 20050207511
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for communicating data over a voice channel of a wireless communication system. The method includes receiving a first periodic data signal and modulating the first periodic data signal to produce a second periodic data signal. Modulating the first periodic data signal includes inserting a predetermined silence period into the first periodic data signal at timed intervals to produce the second periodic data signal. The method further includes communicating the second periodic data signal over the voice channel of the wireless communication system. The method of modulating the first periodic data signal may include receiving a control signal that includes parameters for a length of the predetermined silence period and timing of the intervals, modulating the first periodic data signal responsive to the received control signal, and producing the second periodic data signal.
