    Abstract: Machine-learning-based, adaptive updating of quantitative data in a database system is provided, which includes training one or more machine learning models to facilitate adaptively updating quantitative data in the database system, and ascertaining an update urgency index for updating the quantitative data for one or more data structures of the database system. The update urgency index is representative of an urgency for updating the quantitative data for the data structure(s) and is based, at least in part, on real-time query metrics. The machine learning model(s) is used to adaptively update the quantitative data, where the adaptively updating is based, at least in part, on the ascertained update urgency index. Processing of a database query is optimized in the database system using the adaptively updated quantitative data.

    Abstract: A wireless device system can include lighting devices, sensing devices, and other wireless devices in a wireless mesh local area network. The devices are configured for rapid provisioning with provisioned site network data by using a process in which each device stores data for a default provisioning network, and a provisioning device, for example a smart phone or other mobile device, is used to wirelessly connect with at least one of the devices in the default provisioning network, enabling distant wireless devices to be reached by relay of messages in the default provisioning network. Devices can be individually provided a new network address, for example, from the provisioned site network data, and all devices are provided remaining data from the provisioned site network data using the mesh network broadcast feature, thus provisioning and switching devices near simultaneously from the default provisioning network to the provisioned site network.

    Abstract: A construction method and an application of a digital human cardiovascular system based on hemodynamics are provided, the construction method comprising: partitioning various parts of a human body according to a distributed hemodynamic monitoring system, and determining granularity of a digital human model system; constructing an arterial blood flow transmission equation based on an elastic tube model for arteries, and defining physiological significance for characteristic values of the equation; inputting signals, characteristic values and hemodynamic parameters acquired by the distributed hemodynamic monitoring system into the digital human model system; and obtaining a dynamic and distributed digital human cardiovascular system through finite element calculation. An individual dynamic digital human model based on hemodynamics is constructed through the distributed characteristic values of various parts of the human body and the calculated hemodynamic parameters.

    Abstract: A three-level inverter includes controllable switch components T1 to T6. Each of the controllable switch components includes a parallel connected junction capacitor and an anti-parallel connected diode. A first terminal of T1 is connected to a positive direct current bus, a second terminal of T4 is connected to a negative direct current bus, a second terminal of T1 is connected to first terminals of T2 and T5. A controller is configured to: in a positive half cycle, control T3 to be conducted after T1 is conducted, and control T3 to be disconnected before T1 is conducted next time; and in a negative half cycle, control T2 to be conducted after T4 is conducted, and control T2 to be disconnected before T4 is conducted next time. The three-level inverter can balance voltages of the controllable switch components.

According to the method of the disclosure, a fiber from a clean source, which can self-assemble to form periodic bright and dark stripes can be prepared, the structure of which is similar to type I collagen, the preparation process is simple, the collagen fiber with low cost can be produced on a large scale, and the method has broad application prospects in the field of biological materials.

    Abstract: Microorganisms are prolific producers of natural products, a group of molecules that make up the majority of drugs approved by the FDA in the past 35 years. After decades of mining, the low-hanging fruit has been picked and so discovery of drug-like molecules from microorganisms has come to a near-halt. The reason for this lack of productivity is that most biosynthetic pathways that give rise to natural products are not active under typical laboratory growth conditions. These so-called ‘cryptic’ or ‘silent’ pathways are a major source of new bioactive molecules and methods that reliably activate them could have a profound impact on drug discovery. Disclosed herein is a rapid genetics-free method for eliciting and detecting cryptic metabolites using an imaging mass spectrometry-based approach. An organism of choice is challenged with elicitors from a small molecule library. The molecules elicited are then imaged by mass spec, which allows for rapid identification of cryptic metabolites.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a high-throughput transcriptional assay format in Actinomycete bacteria, and Streptomyces spp. in particular, that leverages eGFP, inserted both at a neutral site and inside the biosynthetic cluster of interest, as a read-out for secondary metabolite synthesis. Using this approach, a silent gene cluster in Streptomyces albus J1074 was induced. The cytotoxins etoposide and ivermectin were revealed as potent inducers, allowing the isolation and structural characterization of nearly 20 novel small molecule products of the chosen cluster. One of these molecules is a novel antifungal, while several others inhibit a cysteine protease implicated in cancer. Studies addressing the mechanism of induction by the two elicitors led to the identification of a pathway-specific transcriptional repressor that silences the gene cluster under normal growth conditions.
