  • Patent number: 4531554
Abstract: A method and a machine for weaving a ribbon-type fabric in which a first weft-yarn is introduced into the warp shed by a first insertion organ and an auxiliary yarn is inserted into the warp shed by a second insertion organ at the side of the yarn shed where a knitting needle is positioned. A second weft yarn is also introduced into the warp shed at the side of the knitting needle. The needle catches the auxiliary yarn and the insertion organs are moved over the warp yarn shed so that the auxiliary-yarn loops formed run parallel to the weft-yarn loops over at least a part of the width of the warp shed.

  • Patent number: 4350184
Abstract: The shuttleless weaving machine contains a weft inserter of a weft yarn having a receiving slot oriented towards the direction of inserting of a weft yarn. The inserter is provided with a clamp for receiving and holding the weft yarn to be inserted. The weft yarn inserter is provided with at least one cutting device. In order to render the weaving machine more simple, safer in operation and also faster, a portion of the receiving slot and the clamp are arranged in a replaceable cartridge inserted into a tubular housing. The wall of the housing is provided with a further portion of the receiving slot, which is in alignment with the first mentioned portion. The so-formed receiving slot receives and grips the weft yarn supplied to the shed of the weaving machine from the yarn bobbin.

  • Patent number: 4344463
Abstract: The ribbon-type fabric is provided with weft-yarn loops inserted at both sides of the run of the warp yarn, the weft-yarn loops being held together at the two edges of the ribbon-type fabric by at least one auxiliary yarn. In order to avoid that the joints of the weft-yarn loops are visible to the exterior, the auxiliary yarn will run parallel to the weft-yarn loops over at least a part of the width of the ribbon-type fabric. The auxiliary yarn is tied-off in itself or by means of an additional auxiliary yarn.

  • Patent number: 4059133
Abstract: The present invention relates to a weft insert apparatus for a shuttleless loom, especially a ribbon loom, comprising two cooperating weft insert elements moved towards one another, the weft insert elements moving about pivot axes in such a manner that their free ends describe curves, and comprising at least one tying needle.

  • Patent number: 4039008
Abstract: In the method, at least one nap fabric strip is woven in a shuttle-less strip loom from weft and warp threads. A first shed is formed from a first layer of warp threads and from a second layer of warp threads. A second shed is formed from the second layer of warp threads and from a third layer of warp threads. A weft thread is introduced into the first shed. A free end portion of an elongate resiliently or elastically deformable element is introduced into the second shed. The elongate element is displaced towards the edge of the fabric strip such that an intermediate portion of the elongate resiliently or elastically deformable element external of the second shed is deformed with portions of the third warp threads wrapped around the elongate resiliently or elastically deformed element to form the nap loops.

  • Patent number: 4027703
Abstract: A shuttleless weaving machine, especially a ribbon loom, comprising at least one filling thread-insertion element and at least one to-and-fro driven knitting needle moving along the selvage or cloth edge which is situated opposite the filling thread-insertion element for the formation of a knitted edge by tying the inserted filling threads and/or auxiliary threads. There is further provided a deflection element operatively associated with the knitting needle for the introduction of filling threads or auxiliary threads, respectively, into the knitting region or zone of a hook of the knitting needle. The deflection element is driven so as to move back-and-forth and by means of an actuation element driven in cycle with the machine can be brought, transversely to its direction of movement, from a rest position into a knitting position where the deflection element deflects filling thread or auxiliary thread, respectively, to the knitting region of the knitting needle hook.

  • Patent number: 3993105
Abstract: Two nap fabric strips for strip closure devices are woven simultaneously in a shuttle-less loom from respective weft and first warp threads. Second warp threads are fed through the shed-forming device of the loom and woven into the strips alternately so that portions of the second warp threads interconnect the strips. The interconnecting portions of the second warp threads are cut to disconnect the strips and to provide each strip with a plurality of knubs each having a deformed end portion. The second warp threads are fed through a storage mechanism, which is disposed upstream of the shed-forming device and which is so controlled that -- while the second warp threads are being woven into the respective strips -- the second warp threads are fed through the shed-forming device at a slower rate than that at which they are fed during the formation of the second warp thread portions interconnecting the two strips.
