Abstract: Rice is protected from herbicidal injury due to thiolcarbamate herbicides using certain 1,8-naphthalimides as a herbicide antidote. The 1,8-naphthalimides have the formula ##STR1## where R is selected from the group consisting of alkyl containing 5-20 carbon atoms, inclusive, hydroxyalkyl and lower alkoxyalkyl, benzyl, chloroacetamido, halophenylureido, thiazolyl, benzimidazolyl and halo substituted benzimidazolyl.

Abstract: Crops are protected against injury from triazine herbicides by application of certain N-benzenesulfonyl carbamates as herbicide antidotes.
