    Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents C.sub.1 to C.sub.20 alkyl-substituted benzyl, orC.sub.2 to C.sub.20 alkyl which can optionally bear one or two --OR.sub.2 radicals, wherein each R.sub.2 independently represents hydrogen or the radical ##STR2## wherein R.sub.3 represents C.sub.1 to C.sub.20 alkyl are disclosed. These compounds are useful for the selective extraction of cobalt, nickel or copper ions from aqueous acidic ore leach liquors.
