  • Publication number: 20130178232
Abstract: A user equipment identification detector for use in a wireless telecommunication network. The user equipment is operable to communicate with network nodes provided in the wireless telecommunication network. The detector comprises a proximity sensor and an interrogation unit. The proximity sensor is operable to detect placement of the user equipment within a predetermined detection region. The interrogation unit is operable to request an indication of identity from the user equipment detected in the predetermined detection region and communicate the indication of identity to a user equipment identification unit.

  • Publication number: 20120133569
Abstract: An antenna array and a method are disclosed. The antenna array comprises: a plurality of active antenna elements, each active antenna element being separated by a predetermined first spacing distance; and a plurality of passive antenna elements, each passive antenna element being separated by a predetermined second spacing distance. By providing both active and passive antenna elements, multiple networks can be supported by the same antenna array. Providing a dual network antenna significantly simplifies base station provision since existing base station sites may be reused more readily. Also, the number of antenna arrays which need to be provided at those base stations sites may be significantly reduced, thereby reducing mast head congestion and also reducing mast head loadings since the mass of the dual antenna array and its wind loading characteristics will be significantly less than that of two separate antenna arrays.

  • Patent number: 7733831
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for detecting a wireless air interface. The method includes receiving information indicative of at least one wireless access type, determining whether the information indicative of the at least one wireless access type is within an expected range, performing at least one first measurement associated with a first air interface in response to determining that the information indicative of the at least one wireless access type is within the expected range, and performing at least one second measurement associated with a second air interface in response to determining that the information indicative of the at least one wireless access type is not within the expected range.
