  • Patent number: 10033531
Abstract: A method for setting up a secure connection between a mobile communication device and a wireless access point is disclosed. The method comprises generating a machine-readable code corresponding to the wireless access point. The generated machine-readable code is scanned through an image-capturing unit. Further, the scanned machine-readable code is converted into a unique identification number that corresponds to the wireless access point. The unique identification number is transmitted to the wireless access point. The mobile communication device is authenticated based on the transmitted unique identification number by sending an authentication message to the mobile communication device.

  • Publication number: 20170019546
Abstract: This disclosure provides a method and system of providing a supplemental user interface (UI) operatively associated with a device, such as a multifunctional device (MFD) or multifunctional printer (MFP). According to an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, an accessibility UI is provided by a portable computer device, e.g., off-the-shelf tablet, where the table includes a container application including a collection of walk-up user applications to operate the MFD, a set of tablet user environment' configuration applications and a set of helper applications that operate in the background and/or provide transitory screens, such as authentication for operating the MFD.

  • Patent number: 9361049
Abstract: An embodiment generally relates to systems and methods for determining a conversion location based on the content of a document and an intended quality level of the document. More particularly, processing logic can be configured to analyze a document submitted for rendering to determine a content level of the document. Further the processing logic can compare the content level to an intended quality level specified by a user of the document to determine whether to convert the document on local resources or in a cloud-based network. An associated conversion application in the appropriate location can convert the document into a printable format, and a print engine can render the converted document.

  • Patent number: 9213701
Abstract: An embodiment generally relates to systems and methods for electronically auto-filing and retrieving erasable paper document documents configured for ultraviolet (UV) imaging. A device can automatically generate an electronic version of the erasable paper document and store the electronic version in a database. A user can search the database for the electronic version with identification information associated with the erasable paper document, upon which the systems and methods can retrieve the electronic version of the erasable paper document for the user. The electronic version of the erasable paper document can be re-rendered either as a new erasable paper document, for display to the user, or other renderings.

  • Patent number: 9075803
Abstract: An embodiment generally relates to systems and methods for electronically auto-filing and retrieving erasable paper document documents configured for ultraviolet (UV) imaging. A device can embed a machine readable code on an erasable paper document, or can detect a machine readable code preprinted on the document. An electronic version of the erasable paper document along with the machine readable code can be stored in a database. When the machine readable code is later detected on a rendered document, the electronic version corresponding to the machine readable code can be retrieved from storage. The erasable paper document can be re-rendered using the retrieved electronic version either as a new erasable paper document, for display to the user, or other renderings.

  • Patent number: 8730527
Abstract: A processor controls a marking engine to print a uniform region having a visually uniform color for an observer within all areas of the uniform region. The processor also controls the marking engine to print different gloss patterns within the uniform region. The different gloss patterns have first and second gloss regions, and the gloss difference between the first and second gloss regions forms gloss marks. Additionally, the processor controls the marking engine to print different infrared patterns within the uniform region to form infrared marks. In some embodiments, the infrared patterns are only within the first gloss regions and are not within the second gloss regions.

  • Patent number: 8373895
Abstract: A method for embedding “no-scan” or “no-copy” information in a document border includes encoding information as a plurality of data carrying dot pair patterns. For each page of a document to be rendered, the method includes determining whether the border area is blank. If found not blank the border area is cleared. Each of the plurality of data carrying dot patterns is embedded in the blank border area of the document page. The document page with the embedded data carrying dot patterns is then rendered, where each data carrying dot is too small to be visually noticeable.

  • Patent number: 8244038
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate dominant point detection for text in a scanned document. The dominant points are classified as “major” (e.g., structural) and “minor” (e.g., serif). A set of rules or parameters for each character is determined off-line. During the text vectorization, OCR is performed and the rules (parameters) associated with the recognized character are selected. Both major and minor dominant points are detected as a maximization process with the parameter set. For minor dominant points, additional processes are optionally employed.
