  • Publication number: 20230213440
Abstract: A high-altitude atmospheric sensor may include a frame configured to attach to a body of an aircraft, where the frame defines an open measurement cavity for air to travel through during flight of the aircraft. The sensor may further include one or more light sources providing input light such as mid-infrared quantum cascade lasers, a beamsplitter to separate the input light into measurement light propagating along a measurement path and reference light propagating along a reference path, one or more measurement cells providing optical paths for the measurement light in the open measurement cavity of the frame, one or more detectors to capture the measurement light from the one or more measurement cells and the reference light, and a controller to generate one or more spectroscopy measurements of air passing through the open measurement cavity during the flight of the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 11463883
Abstract: This Application describes efficient cellular service transfer mechanisms to move cellular services that are based on cellular service credentials, e.g., eSIMs, between accessory wireless devices under various scenarios, including in some embodiments transfer of multiple eSIMs. The first and second accessory wireless devices and the primary wireless device are associated with a common user account. Transfer of credentials for cellular service access can occur between two accessory wireless devices via the primary wireless device, where the primary wireless device and the accessory wireless devices interact with applicable network-based servers.

  • Patent number: 10917790
Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques for enabling a user to activate a new device with a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) without requiring the user to provide MNO authentication credentials that are easily forgotten. The user activates the new device using credentials from an existing device (associated with the user) that is trusted by the MNO and also using a trust score provided by a third-party server that has knowledge of associations between the user and the existing device. The new device can be a supplemental device, such as a wearable device to a cellular phone, where both devices remain capable of accessing services provided by the MNO after the new device is activated with the MNO. The new device can also be a replacement device, such as a new phone, tablet, or wearable device, where the new device supplants access to services provided by the MNO for an existing device.

  • Patent number: 10484894
Abstract: System and methods for providing special radio provisions to link budget limited devices. Before establishing a cellular connection with a cellular network, a user equipment device (UE), such as a link budget limited UE, may negotiate the special radio provisions with the network by presenting requested profile information to the network, and receiving back approved profile information from the network. The UE may perform these communications either directly, via a non-cellular communication connection with the network, or indirectly, via a companion or proxy device. When the UE initiates a cellular connection with the network, both entities may use information specified in the approved profile information, which may improve efficiency of the connection. In some scenarios, the approved profile information may identify a class of devices to which the UE belongs. The approved profile information may also be used in establishing connections with other devices of the same class.

  • Patent number: 10470016
Abstract: Some embodiments relate to methods for provisioning a secondary wireless device with an eSIM for wireless communication and activating multi-SIM functionality between the secondary wireless device and a primary wireless device having a subscribed SIM. The primary wireless device may act as a proxy in obtaining the eSIM for the secondary wireless device. The primary wireless device may then provide, to the cellular network, identifiers of the SIMs of the primary and secondary wireless devices. The primary wireless device may then request initiation of multi-SIM functionality for the two SIMs, and receive an indication that the multi-SIM functionality has been initiated. As an example, the multi-SIM functionality may be implemented by mapping the SIM of the primary wireless device and the SIM of the secondary wireless device (e.g., the provisioned eSIM) to the same Mobile Directory Number (MDN).

  • Patent number: 10356599
Abstract: A server of a wireless operator creates a roaming list based on a user's roaming plan and sends the roaming list to the user's wireless device. The roaming list includes a list of public land mobile networks (PLMNs). When the user travels away from their home wireless network to another geographic area, the wireless device scans based on the roaming list for radio signals. The roaming list contributes to user satisfaction because timely attachment to a radio network while away from home occurs efficiently since the wireless operator creates the roaming list based on both i) roaming agreements that the wireless operator is a party to with other wireless operators, ii) the user's roaming plan, iii) the radio access technology (RAT) capabilities of the wireless device and iv) the RAT capabilities of other wireless operators in particular geographic regions.

  • Patent number: 10299123
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for performing Wi-Fi authentication using an entitlement server in a wireless communication system. A wireless station may perform authentication with a carrier network entitlement server, using a protocol other than Wi-Fi. The wireless station may receive a Wi-Fi service token as part of the authentication with the carrier network entitlement server. The wireless station may perform Wi-Fi authentication with a Wi-Fi access point associated with the carrier network using the Wi-Fi service token. After performing Wi-Fi authentication using the Wi-Fi service token, the wireless station may communicate with the carrier network by way of the Wi-Fi access point.
