    Abstract: The electric lamp has a ceramic lamp vessel (1) having a filling of rare gas and metal halide. Current conductors (2, 3) which support electrodes (4, 5) inside the discharge vessel (1) enter the discharge vessel (1) in a gastight manner through a ceramic sealing compound (6). At least one of the current conductors (2, 3) has inside the lamp vessel (1) a first, halogen-resistant part (21, 31) which is selected from tungsten silicide, molybdenum aluminide, molybdenum boride, pentamolybdenum trisilicide and combinations of at least two of these intermetallic compounds. These compounds have a coefficient of thermal expansion which corresponds to that of the discharge vessel (1). It is thereby prevented that the discharge vessel starts leaking if the ceramic sealing compound (6) extends beyond the first part (21, 31).

    Abstract: A ceramic metal halide arc tube is surrounded by a protective sleeve supported by a metal frame having current carrying wire frame members brazed into the metal ferrules of a PAR-lamp. Each frame member has an S-shaped bend which engages the lower end of the sleeve, and a spacer separates the upper ends of the frame to create a rigid self-supporting structure.

    Abstract: An HID lamp utilizes a wire frame member having an integral coil with spaces between windings to relieve thermal stress and provide shock absorption in a ceramic metal halide discharge lamp mounted concentrically in an elliptical-dimple (ED-type) glass envelope. The wire frame member has a first end welded to a current carrying support member embedded in the stem and a second end welded to an upper axial lead of the arc tube, the coil being situated about the dimple. The lower axial lead fixed relative to a second current carrying support member embedded in the stem, so that the coil compresses when the arc tube expands relative to the wire frame member.

    Abstract: A quartz protective sleeve surrounding a ceramic metal halide arc tube is supported by a pair of frame members received inside the sleeve. A short frame member extends only partially into the sleeve, while a long frame member extends through the sleeve and includes a loop which engages a dimple at the top of the lamp envelope. The sleeve is fitted over the frame members, which are spring loaded apart. Axial positioning may be provided by terminals or other features fixed to the frame members. In an alternative embodiment, shoulders for positioning the sleeve and terminals for connecting to the arc tube are formed integrally with the frame members.

    Abstract: The electric reflector lamp has a light source in an envelope with a seal. The seal has a projection against which a plate rests, the plate having a side which faces the light source. The seal is secured in the neck of a reflector body by means of cement which is present at a side of the plate which faces away from the light source. Thereby, an open passage to the beam-shaping portion of the reflector body exists allowing volatile substances released by the cement to escape when the reflector body is closed by means of a cover.

    Abstract: An electric lamp includes a lamp vessel sealed in a gastight manner and having a wall of ceramic material. A current supply conductor is connected to an electric element arranged in the lamp vessel and issues to the exterior via a lead-through channel in the wall. The current supply conductor has a first part with a comparatively high and a second part with a comparatively low melting point, which parts form a welded joint with mutually facing ends. The first part merges into a narrowing end having a length L and having a circumference O at the transition, which length L is at least one tenth of the circumference O, while the end is embedded at least partly in the end of the second part. This induction has the advantage that the current supply conductor can be manufactured more efficiently and with less wastage.
