  • Patent number: 8276418
Abstract: A cover plate assembly 10 is provided for a cabinet door or drawer lock 12. A cover plate 26 defines a first circular aperture 28 and a rotatably circular cover plate insert 32 defines an eccentrically positioned second circular aperture 34. The second circular aperture 34 defines an inner diameter 33 sized to selectively receive the cylinder and plug assembly housing 20, and the insert 32 has an outer diameter 39 sized to fit within and selectively rotate with respect to the first circular aperture 28. During installation, the outer diameter 39 of the insert 32 is positioned within the first circular aperture 28, and the insert 32 is selectively rotated to a position that enables the cover plate assembly 10 to register with a bolt housing 16 and the second circular aperture 34 to register with a cylinder and plug assembly housing 20.

  • Patent number: 7874189
Abstract: A four-way, field-reversible self-latching cabinet lock includes a cylinder and plug assembly shell that is rotatable with respect to a bolt housing cover for the lock. A locking device is provided to fix the cylinder and plug assembly shell in one of four orthogonal positions with respect to the bolt housing cover. The bolt housing cover is receivable by a bolt housing and conventional self-latching latch bolt. In this manner, pins in the cylinder and plug assembly may be retained in a desirable vertical position while a throw of the bolt can be adjusted to vertical, inverted, left-hand, and right-hand positions in the field without special tools or additional parts.

  • Patent number: 7410195
Abstract: A vertical bolt mechanism and installation configuration that avoids damage to a door corner comprises a vertical bolt case of tubular shape and a horizontal tubular transfer case. The mechanism is substantially contained within the bolt case and transfer case. In the installation in a door, the bolt case and the transfer case require only two major holes in the door top and edge, each hole being well spaced from the door corner and the axis of each hold being directed perpendicular to the other. Installation requires insertion of the bolt case through the hole in the top of the door and the transfer case through the hole in the edge of the door. The two cases come together to form an L-shape within the door with the internal mechanism of each case joined in engagement. Routing or cutting out of the door at the corner is thus avoided.

  • Patent number: 6412317
Abstract: An integrated cabinet door and drawer handle and lock provides a front piece having apertures for receipt of a cabinet door or drawer lock and a human hand. Optionally, a wire pull handle can be provided. A backing plate having a transverse lip thereon is adapted for telescoping interaction with the front piece. A cabinet door or drawer having a portion cut out therefrom for receipt of the integrated handle and lock is clamped between the front piece and backing plate such as by screws. Multiple locks can be incorporated into the integrated structure.

  • Patent number: 5657652
Abstract: A deadlocking, self-latching lock for cabinet doors and drawers employs a unitary shell with an adjacent main bolt and self-latching deadlocking bolt. A pivoting locking arm prevents external retraction of the main bolt without the use of a key.

  • Patent number: 5121619
Abstract: A cylinder and plug assembly is released by depression of a springloaded release button. The release button engages a radially directed aperture in a unitary shell. The radially directed aperture has longitudinally directed, diametrically opposed extensions which facilitate engagement and disengagement of the release button with the aperture.

  • Patent number: 5038589
Abstract: A rekeyable cam lock has a plug rotatably received in a cylinder. The plug has a keyway and pin tumblers and is provided with a circumferential groove rearward of the pin tumbler. The cylinder has a bore to receive the plug and a pair of transverse holes to receive a U-shaped clip in registration with the plug groove. The clip engages the groove, permitting rotation of the plug but preventing its removal from the cylinder. When the clip is removed from the holes, the plug is forwardly removable from the cylinder to facilitate rekeying of the lock.

  • Patent number: 4785286
Abstract: Improvements in a panic bar door operator assembly include a self-contained alarm unit, and a remote unlatching mechanism. The alarm unit comprises a separate key-switch assembly and a separate alarm assembly which separably mount on the housing of the panic bar assembly in a cooperative relationship with the panic bar operator. The key-switch assembly is selectively operable to armed and disarmed settings and also to an access setting. In the access setting, the alarm switch of the alarm assembly is in its disarmed position and an alarm cannot be given, and in this position an adjacent cover member can be removed to provide access to the interior of the alarm assembly, particularly for battery replacement where self-contained batteries power the alarm. In the disarmed setting, the key-switch assembly latches the cover member on the housing so that it cannot be removed and in this setting an alarm will not be given when the panic bar is operated.

  • Patent number: 4640985
Abstract: A snap-fitting cover assembly for the terminal block (12) of an electrical transformer (10) comprises a backing plate (18) having apertures (20) for receiving terminals (14) of the transformer and adapted to be mounted against the terminal block (12). The width of the backing plate 18) is slightly greater than the width of the terminal block (12) so that opposite side portions (A) of the plate (18) extend beyond the block. A cover (28) adapted to fit over the backing plate (18) and block (12) has a pair of inwardly extending ears (26) that snap fit around the extending portions of the backing plate (18). With the backing plate (18) secured to the transformer terminals (14) by nuts (24), the cover (28) is retained to the terminal block (12) by a seal wire (34) extending through the cover (28) and behind the plate (18).
