    Abstract: A replacement ankle joint includes a tibial member and a talar member. The tibial member has a bearing forming a concave surface which engages a curving dome surface of the talar member. The tibial member and talar member slide along the curved surfaces relative to one another to provide flexion and extension. The dome has tapering side walls which are complementary to side portions of the tibial bearing. The tibial member includes a wide base plate proximate the bearing which attaches to the tibia and fibula.
