Patent number: 11375252Abstract: A transmitting apparatus generates an audiovisual content item data stream (e.g. transport stream) comprising a plurality of individual audiovisual data streams with audiovisual components for the content item. A generator (301-307) generates a first stream comprising both mandatory audio data and replaceable audio data for the audio representation where the replaceable audio data being data can be replaced by alternative audio data. A combiner (309) includes the resulting stream into the content item data stream. A receiving apparatus includes an extractor (403) which extracts the mandatory audio data from the received stream. A replacer (415) may replace the replaceable audio data by alternative audio data and an output (415) can generate an audio signal from the mandatory and alternative audio data. The approach may specifically provide an improved and more flexible data stream for audiovisual content.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2020Date of Patent: June 28, 2022Assignee: Koninklijke Philips N.V.Inventors: Robert Albertus Brondijk, Arnoldus Werner Johannes Oomen, Fransiscus Marinus Jozephus De Bont

Patent number: 8260607Abstract: Encoding an audio signal is provided wherein the audio signal includes a first audio channel and a second audio channel, the encoding comprising subband filtering each of the first audio channel and the second audio channel in a complex modulated filterbank to provide a first plurality of subband signals for the first audio channel and a second plurality of subband signals for the second audio channel, downsampling each of the subband signals to provide a first plurality of downsampled subband signals and a second plurality of downsampled subband signals, further subband filtering at least one of the downsampled subband signals in a further filterbank in order to provide a plurality of sub-subband signals, deriving spatial parameters from the sub-subband signals and from those downsampled subband signals that are not further subband filtered, and deriving a single channel audio signal comprising derived subband signals derived from the first plurality of downsampled subband signals and the second plurality ofType: GrantFiled: March 30, 2011Date of Patent: September 4, 2012Assignees: Koninklijke Philips Electronics, N.V., Dolby International ABInventors: Lars Falck Villemoes, Per Ekstrand, Heiko Purnhagen, Erik Gosuinus Petrus Schuijers, Fransiscus Marinus Jozephus De Bont

Publication number: 20120039477Abstract: An audio synthesizing apparatus receives an encoded signal comprising a downmix signal and parametric extension data for expanding the downmix signal to a multi-sound source signal. A decomposition processor (205) performs a signal decomposition of the downmix signal to generate at least a first signal component and a second signal component, where the second signal component is at least partially decorrelated with the first signal component. A position processor (207) determines a first spatial position indication for the first signal component in response to the parametric extension data and a binaural processor (211) synthesizes the first signal component based on the first spatial position indication and the second signal component to originate from a different direction. The invention may provide improved spatial experience from e.g. headphones by using a direct synthesis of a main directional signal from the appropriate position rather than as a combination of signals from virtual loudspeaker positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 2010Publication date: February 16, 2012Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventors: Erik Gosuinus Petrus Schijers, Arnoldus Werner Johannes Oomen, Fransiscus Marinus Jozephus De Bont, Mykola Ostrovskyy, Adriaan Johannes Rijnberg, Jeroen Gerardus Henricus Koppens

Publication number: 20110311063Abstract: The invention proposes a method for embedding an ancillary data into a compressed audio signal. This is achieved by replacing Least Significant Bits (LSBs) in at least one frequency subband of the compressed audio signal by the ancillary data. When replacing LSB bits of compressed subband signals with the ancillary data, the subband signal is effectively modified, resulting in a different decoded output. The replaced LSB bits corresponding to the ancillary data are conveyed as part of the bitstream and can be easily extracted at the decoder. In such a way the decoder obtains the ancillary data that can be used for more advanced audio reproduction at the decoder. The compressed audio itself maintains a good audio quality despite the replacement of the LSB bits of the frequency subband, because the LSB bits do not contribute to the audible artefacts.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2010Publication date: December 22, 2011Inventors: Fransiscus Marinus Jozephus De Bont, Amoldus Werner Johannes Oomen, Erik Gosuinus Petrus Schuijers

Patent number: 7085724Abstract: The invention relates to a linking unit 100, a parametric encoder 400 and a method for generating linking information L indicating components of consecutive extended segments sp and sc which may be linked together in order to form a sinusoidal track. The segments sp and sc approximate consecutive segments of a sinusoidal audio or speech signal s. The linking unit comprises a calculating unit 120 for generating a similarity matrix S(m,n) in response to received sinusoidal code data and an evaluating unit 140 for receiving and evaluating said similarity matrix S in order to generate said linking information by selecting those pairs of components m,n the similarity of which is maximal. According to the invention the calculating unit 120 is adapted to calculate the similarity matrix S by additionally considering information about the phase consistency between the components of the extended previous segment sp and the extended current segment sc.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2002Date of Patent: August 1, 2006Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Albertus Cornelis Den Brinker, Arnoldus Werner Johannes Oomen, Fransiscus Marinus Jozephus De Bont, Erik Gosuinus Petrus Schuijers
