  • Patent number: 4054647
Abstract: Grapefruit pulp is reacted with an alcohol or ketone, preferably a polyhydric alcohol such as propylene glycol or glycerin, in the presence of a free radical initiator such as ultraviolet light to produce a stable reaction product useful as an ingredient in various cosmetic products and for other purposes. The product of this first reaction is then reacted with a phenol such as 2,2'-methylenebis-(3,4,6-trichlorophenol) to produce a second reaction product which is highly effective as an air deodorizer and an antibacterial and antifungal agent.
