  • Patent number: 10852935
Abstract: An electronic device displays a messaging user interface of a messaging application on the display, the messaging user interface including a conversation transcript of a messaging session between a user of the electronic device and at least one other user, a first message-input area, and a launch icon for an interactive application. While displaying the messaging user interface, the device detects an input that activates the launch icon for the interactive application. In response to detecting the input that activates the launch icon for the interactive application, the device displays a user interface for the interactive application, the interactive application user interface including a second message-input area that is distinct from the first message-input area. While displaying the interactive application user interface, the device detects input of a first message in the second message-input area.

  • Publication number: 20200374257
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments include a method for providing interactive notification elements. A device receives a first message and displays a first notification element in a first area of a user interface. The first notification element includes information about the received first message. While displaying the first notification element, the device receives a second message. In response, the device determines whether the second message is associated with the first message. In accordance with a determination that the second message is not associated with the first message, the device delays displaying a second notification element for the second message until the first notification element has been dismissed.

  • Publication number: 20200363915
Abstract: An electronic device with one or more processors and memory, and in communication with a display and an audio system presents, under control of the electronic device, via the audio system, a first audio output, the first audio output having a volume and an audio property other than volume (e.g., a reverberation time, a low-pass filter cutoff, or a stereo balance). While the audio system presents a first audio output, the device receives an input that corresponds to a request to present a second audio output, and in response, the device concurrently presents, via the audio system, an adjusted version of the first audio output in which the audio property other than volume of the first audio output has been adjusted and the second audio output.

  • Publication number: 20200302356
Abstract: Techniques for processing task items are provided. A task item is electronic data that represents a task to be performed, whether manually or automatically. A task item includes one or more details about its corresponding task, such as a description of the task and a location of the task. Specifically, techniques for generating task items, organizing task items, triggering notifications of task items, and consuming task items are described. In one approach, a task item is generated based on input from a user and context of the input. In another approach, different attributes of task items are used to organize the task items intelligently into multiple lists. In another approach, one or more criteria, such as location, are used to determine when to notify a user of a task. In another approach, actions other than generating notifications are enabled or automatically performed, actions such as emailing, calling, texting, and searching.

  • Patent number: 10785175
Abstract: A messaging system in one embodiment includes a messaging app and a polling extension app. The polling extension app is configured to create data for a polling context that is displayed in a view hosted by the messaging app to allow voting by users selected for the poll and to update the polling context with the votes from the users. The messaging app launches the polling extension app, and the polling context is communicated between the polling extension app and the messaging app through an interprocess communication.

  • Publication number: 20200183577
Abstract: An electronic device displays a messaging user interface of a message application, including a conversation transcript of a messaging session between a user of the electronic device and a plurality of other users, a message-input area, and a plurality of avatars corresponding to the plurality of other users. The plurality of avatars are displayed as a stack of avatars, with a first avatar of avatars displayed on the top of the stack of avatars. In response to detecting an input by a first contact on the touch-sensitive surface while a focus selector is at a first location in the messaging user interface that corresponds to the first avatar, if the input meets menu-activation-criteria, a menu that contains activatable menu items associated with the first avatar overlaid on the messaging user interface is displayed, and if the input meets avatar-spreading-criteria the plurality of avatars are displayed in an array.
