  • Patent number: 8917936
Abstract: An image pickup element capture an image of an object, and detailed unique information relating to the captured image is automatically associated with the image through pattern recognition so that the image is easily managed. A pattern detector performs the pattern recognition on an image obtained through a pre-photographing operation, and a result of the recognition is stored in a memory. A code comparator compares stored a preceding recognition result with the latest recognition result obtained through the pattern recognition performed using the pattern detector. In accordance with a result of the comparison, the stored recognition result is updated. When it is determined that a predetermined pattern is not included in the image obtained using the image pickup element, the recognition result stored in the memory is associated with the captured image.

  • Patent number: 8189090
Abstract: An image pick-up apparatus capable of displaying a detected subject region in a field of view of an optical finder intelligibly, and shortening a time until achieving a focus on a subject so as to decrease a release time lag. A focus detection unit detects data concerning a focus adjustment of a subject. An indication unit indicates a focusing point selected as a target of the focus adjustment among focusing points arranged at positions in a field of view of an optical finder according to the data detected by the focus detection unit. A subject detection unit detects a region of the subject using a signal that is different from the signal used for the detection in the focus detection unit. A control unit controls the indication unit based on the detection result of the subject detection unit so as to indicate the focusing points surrounding the region of the subject.

  • Patent number: 8169646
Abstract: A composite image is generated by compositing blank regions generated by tilt correction with achromatic pixels or pixels contained in the non-overlapping regions that do not overlap with the region of the original image as a result of tilt correction. The data of this composite image, which is used as image data used for printing, is provided to a printing apparatus having an automatic correction feature. As a result, variation in correction results due to the amount of tilt correction is minimized when images corrected for tilt are automatically corrected and printed.

  • Patent number: 7706011
Abstract: An image sensing apparatus, such as a digital camera, directly communicates with a printer so that a printer with a photo-direct printing function normally prints a file containing raw and encoded image data. When the digital camera side selects a file containing raw and JPEG images, and the printer has a raw image printing function, the selected image file is directly output. When the file containing the raw and JPEG images is selected, and the printer does not have the raw image printing function, it is decided whether the size of the selected image file exceeds the upper limit size acceptable to the printer. If the file size exceeds the upper limit size, the raw image data is removed to reduce the file size, and the obtained data is transmitted to the printer. When an upper limit is not set, the selected image file is directly transmitted.
