  • Publication number: 20190041822
Abstract: A monitoring and control system receives, from sensing capable devices situated within a designated area and in communication with the monitoring and control system, input indicating a respective number of events. The system identifies, for each of the events, a probability for taking each of a number of actions in response to the event, then calculates, for each of the actions, an overall probability for taking the action based on the identified probabilities for taking the action in response to the number of events, and selects one or more actions to be taken responsive to the number of events and the calculated overall probability for taking the action, for each of the actions, exceeding a respective threshold.

  • Patent number: 10192362
Abstract: A content visualization system generates visual content for a visualization device based on visual content of a live event. The content visualization system collects visual content and source perspective data from visual content sources. The visualization device requests visual content from the content visualization system by providing device perspective data to the content visualization system. The content visualization system generates visual content for the visualization device based on the visual content from the visual content sources, the source perspective data, and the device perspective data. The content visualization system can determine visual content that is relevant to the device perspective by identifying source perspectives that overlap with the device perspective. The content visualization system generates visual content for the visualization device based on the identified visual content.

  • Patent number: 10146214
Abstract: According to one embedment, a supply chain monitoring system can collect performance information from a server associated with each of a tier 1 control tower, tier 2 product assembler, tier 3 part and/or component manufacturer, and tier 4 material supplier to monitor a performance of one or more functions of a supply chain. The system obtains event information regarding an event potentially adversely impacting performance of the supply chain, determines a range of disruption of the event indicating a likely spatial range impacted by the event, and compares the range of disruption of the event against the supply chain to determine that a supply chain component has been impacted by the event.

  • Publication number: 20180343400
Abstract: An infrared (IR) emitter projects a spherical IR pattern. The IR emitter may include one or more IR lasers to produce two IR laser beams, two beam expanders, two diffraction screens to each produce diffracted radiation, a top wide angle lens, and a bottom wide angle lens. The wide angle lenses may each receive diffracted radiation from a respective one of the diffractions screens and may emit a spherical IR pattern including a plurality of longitudinal lines, each longitudinal line including a first portion of the spherical IR pattern emitted from the top wide angle lens and a second portion of the spherical IR pattern from the bottom wide angle lens. The IR emitter may be part of an object detection system in an aerial vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20180343401
Abstract: An object detection system and method detect objects by projecting an infrared (IR) pattern from an IR emitter and capturing images with respective cameras that each includes an IR channel (e.g., a near IR channel) and one or more visible channels (e.g., red, green, and blue). The object detection system may detect, in the IR channels of the captured images, illumination features (e.g., points, lines, or shapes of IR illumination) from the IR pattern and may also detect objects in the visible channels of the images. The object detection sensor may estimate locations for the objects based on detected illumination features incident upon each object. The object detection system may be part of an aerial vehicle and may be used for autonomous or semi-autonomous flight planning.

  • Publication number: 20180322860
Abstract: A noise cancelation system for an unmanned aerial vehicle may have an audio capture module, a metadata module and a filter. The audio capture module may be configured to receive an audio signal captured from a microphone, e.g., on a camera. The metadata module may be configured to retrieve noise information associated with noise generating components operating on the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The filter may be configured to receive the audio signal and noise information from the audio capture module. The filter also may be configured to retrieve a baseline profile from a database based on the noise information. The baseline profile includes noise parameter to filter out audio frequencies from the audio signal corresponding to the noise generating component. The filter may generate a filtered audio signal for output.

  • Patent number: 9910278
Abstract: A visualization device allows a user to be immersed in visual content by projecting the visual content to the user. A projection element is positioned such that visual content projected from the projection element is reflected off of a mirror, which is angled such that the reflected projection is reflected onto a lens doublet. The lens doublet is angled such that the visual content projection reflected onto the lens doublet is partially reflected toward the user. In addition, an electrochromic slab can be controlled to allow configurable amounts of ambient light into the visualization device. If the electrochromic slab is configured such that no ambient light is allowed into the visualization device, the user is only able to see the visual content projected by the display device. The electrochromic slab can also be configured to allow some or all ambient light to travel into the visualization device.

  • Publication number: 20180043988
Abstract: A variable pitch propeller is designed to adjust the pitch of the propeller blade during flight to maximize the propeller efficiency. The propeller blade may comprise airfoil cross-sections. Each cross-section may be composed of different materials at the leading edge and trailing edge. In various embodiments, these materials are selected and oriented to achieve the necessary elastic moduli of the leading and trailing edge for the airfoil cross-section. During liftoff, the airfoil at the blade tip possesses a high blade pitch (e.g. 20 degrees), thereby increasing the generated lift on the propeller blades. During flight or hover conditions when maximal lift is no longer required, the trailing edge of the airfoil displaces upward and reduces the blade pitch to minimize the drag forces on the blade tip.

  • Patent number: 9876996
Abstract: An image processor adjusts luminance values of pixels in a captured image to compensate for effects on focal quality due to thermal expansion or contraction. Responsivity values for different colors are characterized and a table is generated mapping temperature values to weights for each pixel color based on the relationship between temperature and focal length and the relationship between focal length and focal quality in each different color. Luminance values for one color may be compensated based on the measured luminance values for other colors, the relative responsivity values, and the weights.

  • Publication number: 20170355447
Abstract: An offset blade of a propeller varies the blade pitch according to in-flight conditions in order to maximize the performance and efficiency of the propeller. As the propeller begins to rotate, upward thrust forces and lateral centrifugal forces are generated on the blade. The balance between the thrust and centrifugal forces determines the blade pitch. At rest, the blade pitch is minimized whereas when in-flight, the blade pitch of the propeller blade is maximized. The blade is coupled with a rotor hub through a connector that determines the maximum and minimum blade pitches of the blade. Furthermore, the connector reduces blade pitch oscillations that often occur in flight.
