  • Publication number: 20170181069
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for selecting a cell having a particular type of service, such as packet switched (PS) service. The methods and apparatus effect determination within a mobile device of signal strength for at least one cell and whether the at least one cell meets signal strength and path loss criteria based on the determined signal strength. A determination is then made whether the at least one cell supports PS for a PS only device, and a selection to receive service from or camp on the cell is then made when the at least one cell has been determined to support PS. By effecting such selection in PS only devices such as Class C devices, the mobile devices will have PS service for which they are designed and avoids cells having only circuit switched service that would provide no service for the PS only device.

  • Publication number: 20170064621
Abstract: In this invention we disclose methods of automatically configuring a wireless node when it initially powers on and seeks to integrate into an existing wireless network. The wireless node could be part of an ad hoc, software defined network. One such network could be LTE network. The auto-configuration methods disclosed herein can be executed on wireless nodes throughout their operation. In addition, the methods herein allow a node to intelligently choose which network to join when there is more than one available network. In alternate embodiments, the methods disclosed could be used to create a new configuration based on changed environmental conditions, location or node capability change. These embodiments allow wireless nodes to migrate to better quality connections if they become available.

  • Publication number: 20150086127
Abstract: A method and an image capturing device configured to generate a defocused image from a reference image and one or more of focal bracketed images to provide an artificially defocused blurred image. The artificially defocused blurred image is a fusion image composed by processing the reference image and one or more of focal bracketed images to provide a clear foreground with gradual blurred background based on a created depth map. The method is time efficient as it provides faster processing on a captured and down sampled reference image and one or more captured down sampled aligned focal bracketed images. The depth map created using region based segmentation reduces a misclassification at a time of classifying foreground-background and misclassification of pixels to provide fast, robust artificial blurring of background in the captured reference image.
