Abstract: Novel compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein: the symbols R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 represent hydrogen or methyl, with the proviso that only one of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 represents methyl, and, when either or both R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 represent methyl, then R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 represent hydrogen; and,either the symbol (.dbd.O) on the carbon designated by the number 1 or the symbol (.dbd.O) on the carbon designated by the number 3, represents a keto group, such that when the group is present on carbon 1, then carbon 3 may contain a methyl group.and their use as odorants are described.

Abstract: Organosilicon compounds having at least one unit of the general formula ##STR1## in which R represents alkyl, R' is a divalent alkylene, oxyalkylene, alkenylene or oxyalkenylene, Z represents an alkyl, alkoxy or hydroxyl group, a has a value of 0, 1, 2 or 3 and c is 0 to 1, wherein at least one of Z and R' is linked to the multivalent aryl group via an ether linkage, are useful for absorbing UV radiation. Especially if polymeric (with e.g. diorganosiloxane units) they can be incorporated in sunscreen preparations to improve their substantivity to the skin. A process for preparing the compounds is also disclosed.

Abstract: The oxime ester compound [(isopropylideneamino)oxy]-ethyl-2-[[(6-chloroquinoxalinyl)oxy]phenoxy]pro pionate, processes for the preparation thereof, herbicidal compositions containing said compound and methods of use of the composition.

Abstract: Benzoic acid compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein A, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, n and X are as defined hereinafter, processes for their preparation, herbicidal compositions containing these compounds and methods for the use of the compounds and the herbicidal compositions are disclosed. Novel compounds which useful as starting materials for the preparation of the benzoic acid compounds of formula I are also disclosed.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein a novel compound, 6,7-epoxy-1-(p-ethylphenoxy)-3,4,7-trimethyl-nonane, which synergizes the insect regulation activity of 6,7-epoxy-1-(p-ethylphenoxy)-3-ethyl-7-methyl-nonane.

Abstract: Certain allylmercaptans, some of which are novel, can be used to make novel flavorant and fragrance compositions. A novel method for making the allylmercaptans is disclosed.

Abstract: Tricyclo [5,4,0,0.sup.3,9 ] undeca-5,10-dien-2-ones and tricyclo [5,4,0,0.sup.3,8 ] undeca-5,9-dien-2-ones which are useful in the perfumary art and a process for their preparation from phenols and cyclohexenones.
