    Abstract: A spectrophotometric sensor assembly for non-invasive monitoring of a blood metabolite within a subject's body tissue is provided that includes a pad, a light source, and a light detector The light source is operative to emit light signals of a plurality of different wavelengths. The light detector is operative to detect light emitted by the light source and passed through the subject's body tissue. The light detector is at least partially enclosed in EMI shielding. In some embodiments, the light detector and EMI shielding are disposed in a detector housing that encloses the light detector and shielding. The housing is aligned with a detector aperture disposed in the pad.

    Abstract: An imaging system for imaging an object. The imaging system includes a support member adapted to receive the object in an immobilized state. The system also includes first means for imaging the immobilized object in a first imaging mode to capture a first image, and second means for imaging the immobilized object in a second imaging mode, different from the first imaging mode, to capture a second image. The first imaging mode is selected from the group: x-ray mode and radio isotopic mode. The second imaging mode is selected from the group: bright-field mode and dark-field mode. A removable phosphor screen is employed when the first image is captured and not employed when the second image is captured. The phosphor screen is adapted to transduce ionizing radiation to visible light. The phosphor screen is adapted to be removable without moving the immobilized object. The system can further include means for generating a third image comprised of the first and second image.

    Abstract: A near infrared spectrophotometric (NIRS) sensor apparatus is provided that includes at least one NIRS sensor and a mounting device. The sensor has at least one light source, at least one light detector, and a flexible pad. The light source and the light detector are mounted on the flexible pad, which flexible pad has a peripheral edge that extends around the entire periphery of the pad. The light source and light detectors are configured for connection to an electro-optical cable. The mounting device is operable to secure the sensor to a subject, which mounting device is sized to cover the sensor and contact the subject around the entire peripheral edge of the pad. The mounting device includes a light barrier that at least substantially blocks light from passing through the mounting device.
