Patent number: 4777976Abstract: A portable garden hose cart for windably holding a hose and for transporting the hose between a storage location and the use location. The cart includes a frame having a pair of vertical sides each of which has a bearing. A reel is positioned between the frame sides with the reel having a pair of sides and a hose support surface extending therebetween. Each reel side has a generally horizontally extending hub rotatably received in the corresponding bearing of its associated frame side. The cart has an outlet tube carried by a reel for rotation therewith and an inlet tube mounted in one of the hubs so that the inlet tube is held from rotation with the reel. The inlet tube and the outlet tube are in fluid communication. A crank is attached to the other of the hubs to rotate the reel. A hose guide defines a window for passage of the hose with the frame supporting the hose guide spaced from the reel.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1987Date of Patent: October 18, 1988Assignee: Suncast CorporationInventors: Damon A. Patent number: 4764047Abstract: A brush for home use such as washing cars and patios. The brush includes a body having a plurality of dependent bristles and defining a first compartment for a receiving soap and a second compartment for receiving rinse water. The body also includes an elongate tube partially defining each of the compartments. The first compartment has an outlet for providing soapy water to the bristles while the second compartment has an outlet for providing rinse water. A spool valve is slidable back and forth in the tube with the valve having a tubular wall defining an axial bore open to the conduit and an opening extending through the wall for communicating water to either of the compartments. Seals are carried by the spool valves flanking the opening to provide watertight seals between the valve and the tube. The brush also includes a thumb switch for reciprocating the valve along a linear path among a soap position, a rinse position, and an off position where water is supplied to neither of the compartments.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1987Date of Patent: August 16, 1988Assignee: Suncast CorporationInventors: Damon A. Patent number: 4671434Abstract: The present invention relates to a fertilizer spreader having a hopper for holding a granular material. A handle is connected to the hopper for manipulating the hopper. The hopper has a discharge aperture in its lower portion to allow material to discharge from the hopper. A gate is selectively positionable adjacent to the discharge aperture for controlling the rate of discharge of material through the discharge aperture. A control apparatus is connected to the gate for holding the gate in a selected position relative to the discharge aperture. A pivotal support leg is connected to the control apparatus and the hopper, so that when the support leg supports the hopper, the leg is pivoted to operate the control apparatus to position the gate in an attitude for interrupting the flow of material through the discharge aperture.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1985Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Assignee: Suncast CorporationInventors: Damon A. Patent number: 4660803Abstract: The present invention is a quick coupling connector for use in connecting and disconnecting hoses adapted for conducting liquids. The connector includes a unitary molded plastic male connector body having a flow through passage extending therethrough. The body includes a guide cylinder, a lock recess adjacent to the guide cylinder, and a seating cylinder adjacent to the lock recess. The seating cylinder has an annular seal groove. An inner body O-ring is positioned in the seal groove. A unitary molded plastic female connector body having a flow through passage selectively mateably receives the male connector body. The female connector body includes a guide tube receiving the guide cylinder, a lock tube having a lock finger aperture, and a seating cylinder connected to the guide cylinder and sealingly engageable with the inner body O-ring. A mounting tube is connected to the seating tube. A tubular hose nose is mounted in the mounting tube.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1986Date of Patent: April 28, 1987Assignee: Suncast CorporationInventors: Damon A. Johnston, George L. Garcia

Patent number: 4586676Abstract: The instant invention relates to a garden hose storage apparatus having a base and a storage reel rotatably mounted on the base for windably receiving a garden hose. A shelf is secured to the base. The shelf contains an aperture for movably receivng a garden hose. A plurality of rollers is rotatably mounted in the aperture. Said rollers are engageable with the hose to facilitate movement of the garden hose through the aperture for guiding the garden hose on and off the reel.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1984Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: Suncast CorporationInventors: Damon A. Patent number: 4531645Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved portable storage console for holding a plurality of a variety of articles. The console includes a base. A cabinet is rotatably secured to the base for rotating about an axis which is substantially perpendicular to the base. The cabinet is adapted for storing articles within the cabinet and for holding articles on the exterior surface of the cabinet. The cabinet has a plurality of trays releasably secured in the interior of the cabinet. Each of the trays extends the full width and full depth of the interior of the cabinet. The cabinet has a plurality of rollers mounted on its lower surface. The rollers rotatably engage the base. Each of the rollers is rotatable about a roller axis which intersects the axis of rotation of the cabinet.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1983Date of Patent: July 30, 1985Assignee: Suncast CorporationInventors: Thomas A. Patent number: 4506698Abstract: A garden hose storage apparatus is particularly adapted for mounting on a substantially vertical surface and includes a side mount. The side mount has a base adapted for attachment to a substantially vertical surface and a cantilever journal is formed integral with the base. An elongated pipe is fixed in the cantilever journal and extends outwardly from the journal. A hose reel is rotatably mounted on the journal and has its axis of rotation substantially coincidental with the longitudinal axis of the pipe. An out tube is releasably connected to the pipe and has a connector adapted for connecting the out tube to a garden hose. A lock releasably connects the reel to the longitudinal pipe to retain the reel on the journal. Release of the lock allows the reel to be removed from the journal.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1983Date of Patent: March 26, 1985Assignee: Suncast CorporationInventors: George L. Garcia, Richard D.
