  • Patent number: 10754982
Abstract: A system and method for scrubbing data to be shared between organizations to test a joint solution, and for preventing the introduction of unscrubbed data. Each organization captures a subset of data, which may be customer data from a line of business. The first organization scrubs its data according to scrubbing rules, and then passes the scrubbed data to its test environment, while the second organization passes its unscrubbed data to its test environment. The scrubbed data is communicated to the second organization and is applied to the unscrubbed data in order to scrub it, and then communicate it to the first organization. Both organizations use the scrubbed data in their respective test environments to test the joint solution or joint testing. Scrubbing the data may involve scrubbing only specific data fields containing sensitive information.

  • Patent number: 10734837
Abstract: A power distribution grid for a facility, such as a data center, is located within the facility. The power distribution grid includes a plurality of power transport elements arranged in a grid pattern and nodes located at intersections of the grid pattern. Electrical loads are supplied power via respective nodes of the power distribution grid. Also, each node is supplied power from more than two transport elements, such that one or more transport elements can fail and electrical loads connected to a particular node associated with the failed transport elements continue to receive electrical power supplied to the particular node from at least two different transport elements.

  • Patent number: 10624241
Abstract: A server rack comprises a plurality of slots and a plurality of computing devices. Individual ones of the computing devices are mounted within individual ones of the slots. The server rack also comprises a plurality of slot-level thermal regulation systems. At least one of the slot-level thermal regulation systems comprises a louver corresponding to a particular slot and located between a particular computing device mounted within the particular slot and at least one fan configured to facilitate airflow through the server rack. The louver is configured to regulate airflow through the particular computing device. The at least one slot-level thermal regulation system further comprises a thermally activated unit located in an exhaust flow of the particular computing device and configured to change the angle of the louver in response to a change in thermal energy of the exhaust flow.

  • Publication number: 20200106297
Abstract: An internal cooling grid is mounted internal to a facility, such as a data center, and includes a plurality of fluid transport elements arranged in a grid pattern with nodes at intersections of the grid pattern. Supply and return manifolds included in the nodes receive (and return) cooling fluid from/to more than two transport elements. Thus, a failure of one or more transport elements does not prevent a node from being supplied cooling fluid from at least a first transport element and a second transport element. In some embodiments, the cooling grid may be operated at a pressure less than one atmosphere, such that any leaks that occur cause air to leak into the cooling grid instead of cooling fluid leaking out of the cooling grid.

  • Patent number: 10599204
Abstract: A monitoring system may receive data indicating work performed by a set of computing devices during a given period of time and may receive data indicating an amount of power consumed by the set of computing devices and support systems that support the set of computing devices during the given period of time. The monitoring system may normalize the amounts of work performed by different types of computing devices in the set and determine an aggregate amount of work performed by the set. The monitoring system may also determine an aggregate amount of electrical power consumed by the set of computing devices and support system that support the set of computing devices during the given period of time. A monitoring system may use the aggregate amount of work performed and aggregate amount of power consumed during the given period of time to determine a performance index efficiency for the set.

  • Patent number: 10476298
Abstract: An elevated automatic transfer switch (ATS) cabinet provides power support redundancy to a set of electrical loads in one or more rack computer systems. The cabinet includes multiple-phase power feed input receptacles which each receive a multiple-phase power feed and distribute the separate phases of the power feed to separate ATS modules installed in the cabinet. Outputs from separate ATS modules can be distributed, via separate cabinet output receptacles, to electrical loads in one or more rack computer systems. Backup ATS modules can be installed in parallel with ATS modules, so that ATS modules can be replaced while maintaining power support. Particular bypass circuits in the cabinet can be selectively closed to bypass selected ATS modules with selected power feeds, based on manual interaction with one or more elements of the bypass circuit, including manual insertion of a conductive element into a slot element of the bypass circuit.

  • Patent number: 10420249
Abstract: Deployable barriers are reversibly deployed in a data center hall to partition the data center. The hall is partitioned into an operational area, where rack computer systems are installed, a non-operational area, and a staging area where support infrastructure is at least partially installed. A barrier can be collapsed to incorporate the staging area into the operational area, thereby expanding the operational area, when rack computer systems are to be installed in the staging area. A barrier deployed in the non-operational area establishes another staging area. A barrier includes a deployment mechanism which extends through a space in the data center to enable a partition to be extended to partition the hall. The barrier can be mounted and deployed on support infrastructure, so that the deployed barrier and a side portion of the support infrastructure collectively partition the hall.

  • Patent number: 10398061
Abstract: A portable data center includes a cooling system comprising a cooling circuit, one or more air plenums, and one or more air moving devices. The cooling circuit circulates a heat transfer fluid through a portion of the cooling circuit that passes through the one or more air plenums. The heat transfer fluid that passes through the one or more air plenums cools air flowing through the one or more air plenums via the one or more air moving devices. The cooling circuit also circulates the heat transfer through a separate portion of the portable data center where heat is rejected from the heat transfer fluid into the separate portion of the portable data center. In some embodiments, the air plenums and at least a portion of the cooling circuit are mounted in a sub-floor space between a platform within the portable data center and an outer structure of the portable data center.

  • Patent number: 10344744
Abstract: A data center includes computing devices, an air handling system, a heat engine, and a generator. Air moved by the air handling system flows across heat-producing components in the computing devices in the data center. Heat from air that has flowed over the heat-producing components heats a hot section of the heat engine. The heat engine generates mechanical work based on a temperature differential between a hot section of the heat engine and a cold section of the heat engine. The generator generates electricity from the mechanical work generated by the heat engine.

  • Patent number: 10321610
Abstract: A data center includes heat producing components and an air handling system that provides reduced relative humidity air to cool the heat producing components. The air handling system includes a thermal storage unit that removes thermal energy from incoming air under a given set of ambient air conditions and releases thermal energy into incoming air under another set of ambient air conditions. Under the given set of ambient air conditions, the thermal storage unit cools the incoming air and causes water vapor to condense out of the incoming air. Under the other set of ambient air conditions, the thermal storage unit releases thermal energy into the incoming air, thus heating the incoming air.
