Abstract: A hydraulically actuated tool comprising a frame; a hydraulic fluid pump connected to the frame; a ram movably connected to the frame and adapted to be moved relative to the frame by hydraulic fluid pumped by the pump; and a hydraulic fluid reservoir connected to the pump. The reservoir is located proximate an exterior portion of the frame along a path of at least about 180°0 relative to a longitudinal axis of the tool. The reservoir does not extend beyond a rear end of the frame.

Abstract: A battery operated hydraulic compression tool comprising a frame; a hydraulic fluid reservoir connected to the frame; an electric motor driven hydraulic pump connected to the hydraulic fluid reservoir; a ram movably connected to the frame; and a multi-speed ram advancement system for advancing the ram in at least two different rates of movement on the frame. The advancement system includes a rapid advance actuator located directly against the ram, and a hydraulic bypass system located between the pump and the ram for conduiting hydraulic fluid past the rapid advance actuator to the area of the frame holding the ram.

Abstract: A hydraulic drive system for a battery operated portable compression tool. The tool has an electric motor. The drive system has a self-regulating variable displacement pump with a rotatable conduit frame having radial conduits, pistons reciprocally located in the conduits, and a ring bearing surrounding the conduit frame in an eccentric adjustable location. Ends of the pistons are located against the inside of the ring bearing. A valve plate located against a front end of the rotatable conduit frame to control entry and exit of fluid into and out of the conduit frame as it is rotated.

Abstract: A cam roller brake for a crimping tool for electrical connectors having a cam actuated toggle mechanism for operating crimping jaws in which the roller brake regulates movement of the cam in precise crimping cycles.
