  • Publication number: 20090163899
Abstract: A fiber optic unit to ablate tissue with light is described. The unit may include a bundle of optical fibers having a bundle proximal end adaptable to a light source, and a hardened bundle distal end though which the light exits to reach the tissue. The unit may also include hard materials, such as metal or glass, formed around the distal ends of each of the optical fibers. The hard coatings may be fused or swaged to bond the distal ends of the optical fibers together.

  • Patent number: 5207783
Abstract: The present invention provides a one piece plastic closure of the type including a cap part, a tear band which is removable and an anchor band. A hinge member connects the anchor band to the cap part so that when the tear band is removed, the cap part can hinge relative to the anchor band. The anchor band is intended to be retained by the container to which the closure is applied by push fitting so that the anchor band cannot be removed from the container. The invention further provides weakened sections in the anchor band which will fracture if an attempt is made to pry the closure from the container without removal of the tear band, but which will remain intact when the closure is applied to the container by push fitting.

  • Patent number: 4564124
Abstract: A dispensing container for dispensing small tablets one at a time wherein the container comprises an inner element within an outer element, both elements being substantially rectangular in plan so as to form a flat dispensing pack, and wherein the outer element has a tablet orienting member with a channel to receive tablets and to arrange the tablets in alignment, the channel terminating at one end thereof adjacent to a pocket provided in a projecting member, on the inner element, which is shaped to receive a single tablet, a dispensing opening being provided in the bottom of the outer element through which the projecting member can pass in such a way as normally to close the opening, downward movement of the inner member relatively to the outer member being effective to uncover the opening to dispense a single tablet.

  • Patent number: 4456143
Abstract: This invention provides a tamper-resistant fitment to convert a container which has a conventional cap or lid into a container which is tamper-resistant. The fitment has an outer rim member adapted to seat on the top edge of the container, an inner member to seat on the top of the cap, a plurality of grip tabs projecting from the outer rim member so as to extend downwardly along the outside of the container, a tension belt to hold the grip tabs in operative position and frangible means connecting the inner member to the outer rim member.

  • Patent number: 4353472
Abstract: A closure cap for closing the mouth of a container. The cap has a plug forming an inner member, and an outer member with a depending skirt. When the closure cap is in operative position on a container the inner member is arranged coaxially within the upper part of the outer member with the plug in position to close the mouth of the container. When in this position the upper part of the outer member is positioned above the mouth of the container and the skirt of the outer member embraces and engages with the outer surface of the container around the mouth.

  • Patent number: 4228920
Abstract: The invention provides a dispenser for dispensing articles such as sweeteners one at a time from a supply of such articles held within the dispenser. The dispenser consists of two parts, a container closed at one end and open at the other end and a cap to close the open end of the container. A device is provided within the container and connected to the cap for segregating and orienting the articles as they are moved towards the cap and there is an opening in the cap through which the articles can be dispensed. There is a pocket or cut-out in the side wall of the container at the open end and there is a protective ramp adjacent to the opening to prevent more than one article being dispensed at one time.
