Abstract: A computer-based method and system for providing genetic data is provided. In a preferred embodiment, the method and system perform the steps of: receiving search criteria from a user; searching a database for genetic data meeting the search criteria; displaying at least a portion of the genetic data in a first genetic data format, wherein the format includes a plurality of data entries meeting the search criteria; receiving a purchase request for additional information associated with at least one of the entries; retrieving the additional information from the database; storing the additional information in a memory location associated with the user such that the additional information may be subsequently accessed and viewed by the user; and automatically debiting a credit account associated with the user by a predetermined amount.
