    Abstract: A process is disclosed for generating electric energy in a combined gas/steam generating power station in an environmentally acceptable manner by the efficient expansion of a high-pressure working medium in a gas turbine (4) and of high-pressure overheated steam from a fossil fuel fired steam generator (30) in a steam turbine (11). The sensible heat of the efficiently expanded working medium from the gas turbine (4) is transmitted to the combustion air (14) of the steam generator and part (20) of the expanded and cooled working medium from the gas turbine (4) is mixed into the fresh air to be compressed in the gas turbine. The steam (25) taken from the steam generator (30) is further heated before being expanded in a heat exchanger (7) arranged in the heating chamber of an additional fluidized bed furnace (8). The flue gases from the fluidized bed furnace are introduced into the heating chamber of the steam generator.

    Abstract: According to a process for the combustion of organic substances, such as domestic or industrial waste and the like, in a fluidized incineration bed (1) at a mean combustion temperature of 800.degree. C., the flue gased emitted by the fluidized bed (1) are heated with the associated flue dust to a temperature of at least 900.degree. C., preferably 1000.degree. C. to 1200.degree. C., in a subsequent combustion zone (23), in order to destroy toxic substances are burnt. To this effect, the flue gases are introduced in the incinerating chamber of an industrial furnace, for example a steam generator (2) of a coal-operated power plant. By connecting in the gas supply line a fluidized bed (1) upstream of a steam generator (2) fired with coal, a substantial reduction in NOx formation is achieved.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a cooling tower for the cooling water that drains from the condensor of a steam generator or from the condensors of a plurality of steam generators; the tower is fitted with large-area inserts and these form a heat-exchange area into which the cooling water is passed; a rising flow of air passes through this zone in counterflow to the cooling water, the cooling tower being provided with a smoke-gas feed to introduce cleaned, preferably wet-cleaned, smoke gas into the flow of cooling air, which is connected to a plurality of gas outlet pipes, the outlet cross-sections of which open out into the cooling tower above the heat-exchange zone. In order to improve the introduction of the cleaned smoke gases into the flow of cooling air within a cooing tower, the present invention proposes that rotors be provided in the gas outlet pipes in the area of their outlet cross-sections.
