  • Patent number: 4934966
Abstract: A tab-receptacle of known type comprises a pair of side walls upstanding from a base and having edge portions in-turned towards the base opposite rails pushed up from material at the junction of the base and the side walls so that a mating tab will be gripped between the opposed edge portions and the rails. A latching tongue has a lance for latching engagement in an aperture of a mating tab and a release projection. Catch members are provided on ends of strap-like extensions of the respective side walls at the front of the receptacle and include a clasp and stop lugs arranged for interengagement after a predetermined movement apart of the side walls (necessary for tab insertion) to prevent further deflection apart and strain of the side walls otherwise caused by a misaligned tab.

  • Patent number: 4725241
Abstract: An electrical connector for a telephone system comprises a housing moulded in one piece from insulating material with a plug receiving cavity opening at a plug receiving mouth at a front mating face of the housing, a row of spring contacts anchored in a housing cavity wall to extend into the cavity so that the contacts will be resiliently engaged by respective contacts of a complementary plug when inserted through the mouth into the cavity. A compartment with a contact set extends alongside and opens into the plug receiving cavity. A cam integrally formed with a wall of the cavity extends into the plug receiving cavity into the insertion path of a plug, which will, on insertion, urge the cam through the opening and into the compartment, moving the contacts of the contact set relatively apart and breaking the circuit.

  • Patent number: 4699441
Abstract: A one-piece terminal having a contact portion (13) extending from a channel section wire connecting portion (11). Limbs (17, 17') extend toward each other from opposite axial ends of the sidewalls (15, 15') with opposed edges defining between them a wire receiving slot (26), a portion (22, 22') of each sidewall (15, 15') adjacent a limb (17, 17') being inclined inwardly of the channel as it extends away from the base (14) and towards the limb (17, 17') to provide a stiffly compliant slot (19). A panel (25) upstands from the base (14) between the sidewalls (15, 15') to provide sealant barrier and a rigid slot (26) aligned with the compliant slot (19). Extensions of the sidewalls (33, 33') are secured together by ties (34, 35).

  • Patent number: 4458971
Abstract: An electrical tab receptacle (2) formed from sheet metal has a box-like body (3) with spring arms (7, 8) extending forwardly in convergent manner and having turned out ends (9, 10) defining a divergent entry to a tab receiving space. A latch projection (13) is formed on one arm (8) and presents a rear-facing shoulder in the tab receiving space, arranged to engage a tab recess or aperture (16) of a complementary tab to resist withdrawal of the tab (17) from the receptacle. Outward flexure of the arm (8) serves to release the latch projection (13) and the receptacle (2) is suitably mounted in a housing (1) with the capacity for limited movement in the tab receiving direction between forward and rearward housing shoulders (11, 6). The forward shoulder (11) is formed on its rearward face with a ramp (12) adapted to deflect the arm (8) transversely outwards on rearward movement relative to the receptacle.
