  • Patent number: 4172672
Abstract: A device for facilitating location of the printing point and/or the correction of characters comprises a mechanism actuated by a back space key to shift the printing point back. A second mechanism, also actuated by the back space key, moves a pointer to a set position over the printing point simultaneously with the back spacing. A restoring element controlled by a typing mechanism automatically restores the pointer to an inoperative position clear of the printing point before the typing of the selected character. A correcting key, when actuated, sets a suppressor which arrests the movement of a spring actuated actuator to lock the escapement and prearranges a lift mechanism for raising a correcting ribbon into an operative position. A positioner connected to the lift mechanism holds the suppressor in the set position in opposition to the action of a returning spring when the mechanism is prearranged for use and releases the suppressor when the correcting ribbon is raised into the operative position.

  • Patent number: 4033445
Abstract: A ribbon feed device for a ribbon in a cartridge, comprises means for supporting the cartridge with spools therein engaged on hubs of the device, guide means for guiding a length of ribbon looped out of the cartridge, and a single control member operable from a normal position to an operated position to shift the guide means transversely of the length of the ribbon to a position of greater accessibility for fitting the ribbon therein. The ribbon feed device is capable of accepting either an inked ribbon cartridge or a carbon coated cartridge and includes a pair of sensing levers urged by a spring adapted to sense the inked ribbon wound on the two spools respectively through apertures in the inked ribbon cartridge and to control means for effecting reversal of the movement of the inked ribbon. Moreover, the feed mechanism includes a feed roller and counter-roller for unidirectionally feeding the carbon coated ribbon.

  • Patent number: 3960259
Abstract: A cartridge for an ink or carbon ribbon of an office machine comprises a container of parallelepipedal form in which a pair of spools are rotatable for the ink or carbon ribbon. A part of the ink or carbon ribbon extends through one aperture to the exterior of the container and returns to the interior through another aperture. Two arms are associated with the two apertures and project from the exterior of the container. The arms support the portion of the ink or carbon ribbon exterior of the container, away from the container, when the container is removed from the machine and makes the insertion of the ink or carbon ribbon arms in a lift ribbon guide upon mounting of the container on the same machine. The container is further provided with a window disposed over the periphery of one of the two spools for manually rewinding the ink or carbon ribbon on the spool after the container is mounted on the machine.
