  • Publication number: 20120121372
Abstract: A tray dispenser and method for removing trays from the top of a stack of trays. The tray dispenser includes a tray delivery system that positions the top tray in a tray removal position, and a tray removal system that removes the top tray, moves it and releases it in a tray release location. The tray dispenser can include a rotary arm to which the tray removal system is coupled. The rotary arm can move the removal system from a first position where it removes the tray from the removal location to a second position where it releases the tray in the release location. The removal system can include a suction cup assembly that holds the tray when it is removed and moved, then releases the tray in the release location. The tray dispenser can include a limit switch that senses when the tray is in the removal position.

  • Patent number: 5971020
Abstract: A rotary coupling for communicating a pneumatic signal from a stationary pneumatic source to an apparatus. The rotary coupling has a housing and a rotating portion that rotates with respect thereto. The housing has at least two inlets in fluid communication with the pneumatic source. The rotating portion has at least two outlets in fluid communication with the apparatus. Inlet and outlet pairs are aligned radially relative to an axis of rotation of the rotating portion so that they are in fluid communication when the rotating portion is at an angular orientation at which the inlet and outlet pair are coincident. More than one inlet may be paired with an outlet, and vice versa. Channels can be formed to allow the inlet and outlet pairs to be in fluid communication when they are not coincident. Inlets and outlets can also be radially spaced different distances from the axis of rotation such that fluid communication between these inlets and outlets are blocked at all angular orientations of the rotating portion.

  • Patent number: 5345747
Abstract: An apparatus for sealing a covering material to an outer flange of a container includes a container carrier for aligning the covering material relative to the container so that a portion of the covering material is positioned over the outer flange of the container. The apparatus also includes a sealing assembly having a horn and a mechanism for applying pressure to the outer flange and to the covering material against the horn. The apparatus further includes a conveyor for moving the container carrier relative to the sealing assembly so that the outer flange of the container and the portion of the covering material positioned over the outer flange pass below the horn. In addition, the apparatus includes a mechanism for vibrating the horn at a predetermined frequency to cause friction between the outer flange of the container and the portion of the covering material positioned over the outer flange to seal the outer flange to the covering material.

  • Patent number: 5199612
Abstract: A traveling bucket assembly is operable to dispense particulate product contained in a pair of food hoppers simultaneously onto target areas on an underlying conveyor. An outside gate is movable to open and close a dispensing outlet formed in the bottom of each of the food hoppers. An inside gate in the hoppers is movable independently of the outside gate to block further discharge of product from the hoppers even though the outside gate is retained in its opened position so that discharge of product can be regulated with greater precision.

  • Patent number: 5174472
Abstract: A control system and method are provided for controlling the timing of a dispenser including a valve which moves alternately between a product-loading position and a product-dispensing position in a repeated cycle. The dispenser also includes a mechanism for dispensing a product from the dispenser after each time the valve moves to its product-dispensing position. The control system includes a detector which detects the time of which the valve reaches its product-dispensing position and a mechanism for generating a control signal at a predetermined time to actuate the dispensing mechanism when the valve reaches its product-dispensing position. The control system also includes a sensor for sensing the time that the dispensing mechanism actually begins dispensing product. The control system further determines the time difference between the time the valve reaches its product-dispensing position and the time the dispensing mechanism actually begins dispensing the product.
