    Abstract: A multi-layered polymer having (a) a core layer of an aromatic vinyl polymer, (b) an intermediate layer of a butadienic rubbery polymer and (c) an outer layer of an aromatic vinyl glassy polymer, the amount of the components (a), (b) and (c) being 12 to 42 weight %, 48 to 78 weight % and 10 to 40 weight %, respectively, provides a thermoplastic resin composition excellent not only in impact strength, especially in impact strength at low temperatures, but also in, in the case of containing a coloring agent, color-stability including less mottlings, and giving a molded article improved in preventing occurrence of delamination around the gate region.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a core-shell polymer which comprises:(a) a core comprising an elastomeric polymer having a glass transition temperature of not more than -30.degree. C. in an amount of 50-90% by weight;(b) an intermediate layer comprising a polymer having a glass transition temperature of not less than 60.degree. C. in an amount of 5-30% by weight; and(c) a shell comprising an aromatic vinyl polymer in an amount of 5-30% by weight,each based on the core-shell polymer, and the total of the core, the intermediate layer and the shell amounting to 100% by weight.Preferably, the core is composed of polybutadiene or polyalkyl acrylate wherein the alkyl has 2-8 carbon atoms, the intermediate layer of polymethyl methacrylate and the shell of polystyrene.A high impact polyphenylene ether resin composition is further disclosed which contains such a core-shell polymer as an impact modifier.

    Abstract: A fiber-reinforced resin composition having surface smoothness, which comprises(1) 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin composition comprising an aromatic polycarbonate resin and a thermoplastic polyester resin in a weight ratio of from 10/90 to 90/10,(2) from 50 to 100 parts by weight of glass fiber sheet chips having an almost rectangular shape, each side having a length of from 1 to 30 mm, the glass fiber sheet chips being obtained by forming E-glass fibers having an average fiber diameter of 2 .mu.m or less which have been surface-treated with a silane coupling agent, into a sheet by a paper making process and then cutting the resulting sheet, and(3) from 0 to 40 parts by weight of a thermoplastic elastomeric polymer,and an exterior automotive part showing excellent image clarity, obtained by shaping the fiber-reinforced resin composition.

    Abstract: A method of treating the surface of a shaped article of a polycarbonate resin, which comprises coating the shaped article of the polycarbonate resin with a specific pre-treating solution (I), air-drying the coated article, then coating the article with a specific coating composition (II), and heat-curing the coated article. The pre-treating solution (I) contains a bisphenol type epoxy resin in a mixed solvent of a lower alcohol and an alkyl ether of ethylene glycol, and the coating composition (II) comprises (A) a reaction mixture of an aminoalkylalkoxy silane of the formula (1) with an epoxyalkylalkoxy silane of the formula (2); (B) a mixture of an alkyl-modified methylol melamine of the formula (3) with an alkyd resin; and (C) an acrylic acid derivative of the formula (5) or its polymer of a low degree of polymerization, the formulas (1), (2), (3) and (5) being given in the claim.
