    Abstract: A retention member aligns and stabilizes one or more insert molded lead assemblies (IMLAs) in an electrical connector. The retention member provides for alignment and stability in the x-, y-, and z-directions. Such a retention member may be in connection with a right angle header connector. The retention member provides stability by maintaining the true positioning of the terminal ends of the contacts. The retention member is expandable in length, and may be sized and shaped to fit a single header assembly or multiple position configurations.

    Abstract: Lightweight, low cost, high density electrical connectors are disclosed that provide impedance controlled, high-speed, low interference communications, even in the absence of shields between the contacts, and that provide for a variety of other benefits not found in prior art connectors, such as low insertion loss. Signal contacts and ground contacts within the connectors can be scaled and positioned relative to one another such that a differential signal in a first differential signal pair produces a high field in the gap between the contacts that form the signal pair and a low field near an adjacent signal pair. Consequently, cross talk between adjacent signal contacts can be limited to acceptable levels for the particular application. In such connectors, the level of cross talk between adjacent signal contacts can be limited to the point that the need for (and cost of) shields between adjacent contacts is unnecessary, even in high speed, high signal integrity applications.

The “T-shaped” extensions (44) are bent at approximately a 90° angle with respect to the lateral walls (16, 18) of the housing and through an opening in the mounting posts (32) such that the top of “T” is retained within a groove that is formed in the bottom of each mounting post. The top of the “T” has length that is longer than the diameter of the mounting post (32) such that the ends of the “T” extend beyond the periphery of the mounting post (32), and are longer than the diameter of a receiving hole of a printed wiring board (52) into which the mounting post is inserted.

Interfering coherent beams generate a n image on the object's surface that includes a stripe pattern. The surface is viewed with a high resolution camera and digitized using a frame grabber and computer. A reference pattern is generated in software and is mixed with the digitized object surface signals. The mixed signals are filtered to remove signals at the carrier frequency and signals containing the beat frequency indicative of the surface contours are output.
