  • Patent number: 9804811
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a printing system. The printing system includes a geographic location server on a network that has access to a geographic location database. The printing system also includes a user profile server that has access to a user profile database. The printing system also includes a mobile client device that can communicate with the geographic location server and the user profile server and is associated with a user profile included in the user profile database. The geographic location server and the user profile server cooperatively provide print data when the mobile client device is within a threshold distance of a geographic position of one geographic location stored within the geographic location database. The print data is based on one location-based artifact of the geographic location and user profile data, and is printed by a printing device.

  • Patent number: 9741191
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a route logging system. The route logging system includes a geographic location server, a user profile server, a mobile client device, and image recording device(s). The geographic location server has access to a waypoint database. The user profile server has access to a user profile database, which includes a plurality of user profiles each including at least one route log. Each route log includes at least one waypoint image. The mobile client device is associated with one or more of the plurality of user profiles included in the user profile database. When the mobile client device determines it is within a threshold distance of a specific geographic position, the mobile client device updates the respective route log. The one or more image recording device(s) record waypoint images that can be included in route logs and associated with specific geographic positions.

  • Patent number: 8065357
Abstract: A system and method for managing output such as printing, faxing, and e-mail over various types of computer networks. In one aspect, the system and method provides for accessing print and/or document resources located on private networks behind firewalls. A pass-through communication link is established between system components located on opposing sides of a firewall. A system-served user-interface enables users to select source data and an output device on which the source data are to be printed, either or both of which may reside behind the firewall. The source data are then retrieved and forwarded to a print service, which renders output image data corresponding to the source data and the selected output device. The output image data are then submitted to the output device to be physically rendered. Access to private resources is provided by the pass-through communication link. The system also enables documents to be printed by reference.

  • Patent number: 8024398
Abstract: A system and method for managing output such as printing, faxing, and e-mail over various types of computer networks. In one aspect, the method provides for printing via a wireless device. The system provides renderable data to the wireless device by which a user-interface (UI) may be rendered. The UI enables users to select source data and an output device on which the source data are to be printed. The source data are then retrieved from a local or remote store and forwarded to a print service, which renders output image data corresponding to the source data and the output device that was selected. The output image data are then submitted to the output device to be physically rendered. The user-interfaces enable wired and wireless devices to access the system. The system enables documents to be printed by reference, and enables access to resources behind firewalls.

  • Patent number: 6993562
Abstract: A system and method that enables users operating originating devices, such as PC's, laptop computers, PDA's, pocket PC's, cell phones, etc., to print documents, images, etc. by sending the content to be printed via an e-mail message. The e-mail message is sent to a virtual printer e-mail address hosted by an e-mail server. The e-mail message is retrieved by a “driverless” print server (DPS) system, separated into a main file and attachment files, and printed on a printer to which the virtual printer e-mail address corresponds. The DPS system utilizes a table driven mechanism to determine appropriate applications to laod and process and handle various printer events generated by various software applications pertaining to the documents desired to be printed by operators of the originating devices. The system and method enable documents and the like to be printed without requiring a printer device driver corresponding to the target printer to be loaded on the originating device.

Abstract: A system and method that enables users operating originating devices, such as PC's, laptop computers, PDA's, pocket PC's, cell phones, etc., to print documents, images, and Web pages via a “driverless” print server (DPS) system without requiring any printing device drivers to be loaded on the originating device. The server system utilizes a table driven mechanism to process and handle various printer events generated by various software applications pertaining to the documents desired to be printed by operators of the originating devices. Print data corresponding to a document is then directed over various networks to a selected target printer. The system provides two-way communication between the DPS server computer and the originating device as well as two-way communication between the DPS server computer and the target printers.

  • Patent number: 6449052
Abstract: A set of hardware and/or software elements, typically embedded as part of the input or output device, which operate cooperatively to select from a set of personality parameters to enable the outputting of image data created by different sources to different output devices. Included is a method for printing from embedded devices to inkjet and laser printers with a print preview of images to display devices such as LCD or video screens. The invention provides color management and color adjustments along with built-in output device drivers to generate data required to operate different output devices. In this manner, a single imaging subsystem in a source devices can be used to drive a larger number of output devices. Similarly, a single output subsystem in an output device can be used to obtain data from a large number of source devices. The configuration personality parameters are provided in a compact format, yet image and color quality are optimized for each output device.
