Patent number: 10029764Abstract: A shallow water anchor is provided. The shallow water anchor comprises a first anchor extension and a second anchor extension axially received by a housing. The first anchor extension is axially received by the second anchor extension such that the first and second anchor extensions are sequentially deployable from the housing using an actuation arrangement. The actuation arrangement is controlled by a control interface that is operable to detect when the shallow water anchor has reached a fully extended state and fully retracted state. The shallow water anchor further includes a biasing compensator that compensates for fluctuations in the overall depth of water the anchor is deployed in due to waves or other anomalies.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2016Date of Patent: July 24, 2018Assignee: Johnson Outdoors Inc.Inventors: Darrel A. Bernloehr, Gregory Paul Beamer, David M. Samek

Patent number: 7905193Abstract: A trim tab for mounting the transom of a boat has an upper surface and an undulating bottom surface with down-turned flaps on opposite sides of the tab. The trim tab is formed of a molded composite material. The top surface includes a hinge platform at its forward end and mount platform at a rearward end. The trim tab tapers from a minimum thickness at its leading end to a maximum thickness at its trailing end. The shape of the bottom surface and the down-turned flaps provide a bottom surface area with enhanced lift characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2007Date of Patent: March 15, 2011Assignee: Johnson Outdoors Inc.Inventor: Gregory Paul Beamer

Patent number: 7086914Abstract: A modular engine mount (EM) trolling motor/lower unit mounting bracket is provided. The bracket includes a lower mounting EM bracket that is secured to the cavitation plate of a vessel's outboard or I/O. This lower bracket includes a support carriage that supports the trolling motor. It is secured on the bracket by a cap. To accommodate dual trolling motors, a dual bracket is mounted on the lower bracket. This dual bracket includes a central yoke and two lateral support carriages. Caps are then used to secure each of the trolling motors/lower units on the lateral support carriages. In this configuration, the mounting yoke includes a closure structure that mates with the lower bracket to close the trough provided therein. In a tri-motor configuration, this closure structure is not included, and the trolling motor is secured in place on the lower bracket by the central mounting yoke.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2005Date of Patent: August 8, 2006Assignee: Johnson Outdoors, Inc.Inventors: Gregory Paul Beamer, Wesley Calvin Marcus, Jeffrey L.
