  • Publication number: 20220267186
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a glass parison are disclosed. A glass parison forming apparatus includes a feeder spout having an orifice ring, a plunger carried in the feeder spout and including a blow conduit therethrough, and a neck ring located immediately downstream of the orifice ring, with no chutes, scoops, or other gob handling devices therebetween. A glass container produced by the disclosed method and apparatus is also described.

  • Patent number: 11365144
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a glass parison are disclosed. The method of forming a glass parison includes flowing molten glass to a glass feeder spout located immediately upstream of a neck ring; feeding molten glass through an annular space established between an orifice ring of the glass feeder spout and a plunger of the glass feeder spout; blowing gas through the plunger into the molten glass to establish an exterior and an interior of the glass parison; and contacting a portion of the exterior of the parison with the neck ring.

  • Publication number: 20220098080
Abstract: A method of providing glass from a glass melting furnace to at least one mold, including providing an uninterrupted glass communication path from an outlet of the glass melting furnace to the at least one mold, and pressurizing the path at a location downstream of the outlet to move molten glass into the at least one mold. A related system, apparatus, and molding equipment are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9546908
Abstract: An apparatus to sense temperature in a glassware forming machine. A mold body includes an exterior surface, a mold cavity having an interior mold surface, and a blind hole having a closed end including a closed end surface adjacent to and spaced outwardly from the interior mold surface, wherein the blind hole extends outwardly from the closed end surface toward the exterior surface. The mold body is removably carried on a mold hanger, and a light collector is carried by the mold hanger to collect infrared light emitted within the blind hole.

  • Patent number: 7543461
Abstract: A gob deflector has an entry end for receiving molten glass gobs, an exit end for directing the glass gobs into a blank mold of a glassware forming machine, and a curved portion between the entry and exit ends. The curved portion has an arc defined by an upper curve contiguous with the inlet end of the deflector and a lower curve contiguous with the entry end of the deflector. The upper and lower curves have differing radii as a function of angle along the curved portion of the deflector.

  • Patent number: 5904745
Abstract: In an individual section (IS) glassware forming system that includes a plurality of operating mechanisms for performing cyclic motions, an electronic controller for controlling cyclic motion of at least one of the operating mechanisms includes an electronic memory for storing a plurality of motion profiles for the one operating mechanism, with each of the profiles including a set of motion data versus time data. Each of the profiles has a piecewise linear contour determined by a plurality of control points, with each of the control points having associated motion and time data values. The operator may selectively display one of the profiles as a table of time values for the control points, with the time values preferably being in units of IS machine degrees.

  • Patent number: 5779749
Abstract: In an individual section glassware forming system that includes a plurality of operating mechanisms for performing cyclic motions, an electronic controller for controlling cyclic motion at a needle mechanism includes electronic memory for storing a plurality of motion profiles for the needle mechanism, with each of the profiles comprising a set of needle position data versus time data. Any one of the profiles so stored may be selectively displayed as a graph of position versus time. A plurality of control points, consisting of less than all data points, are highlighted on the graphic display at spaced positions along the graph. An operator may identify one of the control points and change the position data and/or time data associated with that control point. An electronic control computer is responsive to such control point change for automatically recomputing the position data and time data for the profile so as to accommodate the operator-selected changes at the control point.
