  • Patent number: 11910502
Abstract: An LED driver for an LED lamp, which also comprises an LED load. The LED driver is adapted to connect to an input source at a first and second terminal. The LED driver comprises a switching arrangement configured to enable a controller to control at least a magnitude and phase of the voltage between the first and second terminals. The phase of the voltage between the first and second terminals may be defined to control an amount of power that flows from the input source to power the LED lamp.

  • Publication number: 20230224038
Abstract: High-speed optical communication is very attractive to satisfy high throughput applications. In the meanwhile, it is also desirable to reduce the energy waste resulted from an idle state of the optical transceivers of the communication system. The present invention discloses that both the access point (1200) and the end point device (1100) can operate in at least two different operation states, a normal operation state and a low power state. The low power state is a default state, and the normal operation state is enabled only when a valid trigger is detected. To establish a high-speed optical link (60), the end point device (1100) first sends an optical trigger signal (50) to the access point (1200) in the low power state. The access pint (1200) switches to the normal operation state only when a valid trigger signal is identified after detecting the optical trigger signal (50).

  • Publication number: 20230217565
Abstract: The invention relates to an incorporation of a current limiting/regulating circuit on a luminaire board for ensuring that the luminaire board will automatically operate at its desired current after a replacement. Since the current control at the luminaire board causes an initial mismatch between the current supply of the driver and the demand of the luminaire board, the driver output voltage will drift towards the maximum output voltage of the driver. When the maximum output voltage is reached, the driver is configured to operate in constant-voltage (CV) mode, sense the output current and reduce its output current to the same value as consumed by current-controlled luminaire board. Alternatively, the driver may gradually reduce the setpoint of the output current until it just leaves the CV mode and stay at that setpoint. In this way, the driver will automatically operate at the correct current of a newly installed luminaire board without any action from the user.

  • Publication number: 20230198616
Abstract: This invention relates to a power supply system for an optical wireless communication system where a modem (212) is connected to a plurality of transceivers (11). The underlying idea being that the transceivers (11) are powering the modem (212), rather than the modem (212) powering the transceivers (11). To achieve this, a power combiner is provided that can receive power from the transceivers (11). The transceivers (11) power down when no endpoint is detected and use a subset of emitters, in which case the modem (212) can also be switched to a lower power mode.

  • Publication number: 20230189421
Abstract: The invention relates to an integration of a programmable memory device in a luminaire for storing service-related information such as drive parameters, repair history information and the like. The memory device can be read out by the same connectivity used for driving the luminaire, so that the driver can be informed about required operation conditions. The driver can thus learn about the service-related information before starting to drive the luminaire.

  • Publication number: 20230175654
Abstract: A lamp comprises an input for connection to a high frequency ballast for gas discharge lamps. A power supply unit obtains power from a LED on voltage of the LED of the lamp, and the power supply unit powers an isolation switch at the input. During a preheat stage of the ballast, the power supply unit does not close the isolation switch, but the isolation switch is closed when the high frequency ballast is in a later state, i.e. the ignition phase.

  • Publication number: 20230179300
Abstract: In a multi-cell wireless communication system (100) with at least one optical access point (120) and at least one radio frequency access point (120), more flexibility is provided to an end device (110) in selecting an access point (120) for establishing a data link. Because of the line-of-sight characteristic of an optical link and the limited field of view of an optical receiver, optical cells are typically deployed with a relatively high density and adjacent optical cells may have an overlapping area. This invention discloses a method of an end device (110) for selecting a favorable access point (120) with reduced overhead, even when the end device is located in the overlapping area of two adjacent optical cells.

  • Publication number: 20230180376
Abstract: A mechanism for lamp to lamp communication within a luminaire. This is achieved by a field controller of a master lamp controlling the magnitude of an electric/magnetic field generated by a field generating element, where a slave lamp detects the electric/magnetic field using a field detection element. One of more properties of the light output by the slave lamp are dependent upon the detected electric/magnetic field, meaning that the master lamp is able to control the operation of the slave lamp.

  • Patent number: 11672073
Abstract: A lamp has a safety circuit connected to first and second electrical connection terminals. A test is used to detect if the first and second electrical connection terminals are both connected to external power without an interfering impedance such a human body, and only then enable operation of the lamp. • Patent number: 11259381
Abstract: The invention provides a retrofit LED lamp driver having a shunt switch to alternately shunt (for a first duration) and not shunt (for a second duration) received AC power. The first duration is concurring with a first polarity of each AC cycle of the AC power, for a first period comprising at least one AC cycle, and the first duration is concurring in a second, opposite polarity of the AC power, for a second period comprising another at least one AC cycle not overlapping with the first duration. Alternating the first and second periods are provided. Any DC offset in the current drawn caused by the shunting operation is thereby cancelled over time.
