  • Patent number: 6386646
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system with anti-lock control comprises a main cylinder connected to a reservoir, wheel brakes connected to the main cylinder by way of brake lines, and a recirculating pump, a suction side of which is connected to the wheel brakes by way of a first suction line. By way of a second suction line, the pump is connected to a pressure source. To control the pressure medium supply from a precharging device or other pressure source to the suction side of the recirculating pump as a function of the pressure in the second suction line, a hydraulically actuated valve is used. The inlet of the valve is connected to the precharging device via the pressure source, the outlet of the valve is connected to the suction side of the recirculating pump. The output pressure of the valve acts in a valve closing direction such that the valve closes once a pressure on the suction side of the recirculating pump exceeds a certain value.

  • Publication number: 20020050738
Abstract: The recirculating pumps of brake systems that are equipped with a precharging device or other pressure sources, the pressure of which at least temporarily reaches the suction side of the recirculating pump, are highly stressed and consequently subjected to premature wear by this pressure. Over time, this results in large leaks which may cause damage to the pump motors. Consequently, the invention proposes to control the pressure medium supply from the precharging device or other pressure source to the suction side of the recirculating pump as a function of the pressure in this connecting line.

  • Patent number: 6283732
Abstract: A pump, electromagnetically operable valves and at least one low-pressure accumulator are arranged in a valve block. The valve actuators are disposed in front of a base of the valve block opposite to an electric motor which drives the pump. The housing of the low-pressure accumulator is formed of an add-on piece which is deepdrawn from sheet metal in a bowl-type configuration. The edge of the add-on piece is attached in the mouth of a blind-end bore in the valve block. The add-on piece projects beyond the and has roughly the same height as the actuators of the valves. The actuators and the add-on pieces are covered by a housing cap on the valve block which protects them against environmental influences. The arrangement is extremely compact and permits achieving a relatively small and, thus, light-weight valve block.

  • Patent number: 6189983
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system includes a solenoid valve with a pressure-limiting function to such effect that a stroke movement of a valve tappet, which can be fulfilled in response to the electromagnetic control force, is variable by the action of a hydraulic control force. A first pressure fluid channel is connected to the hydraulic pressure generator and opens into the valve housing proximate the valve tappet, and a second pressure fluid channel opens into the valve housing remote from the valve seat and the valve tappet. The second pressure fluid channel is connected to a pump and at least one wheel brake and is connectable to the first pressure fluid channel depending on the position of the tappet. The hydraulic pressure of the braking pressure generator acts upon an actuating member which counteracts the closing movement of the valve tappet.

  • Patent number: 6078118
Abstract: The present invention discloses a combination of an electric motor and a pump with a compact design. It is important that the pump housing 9 is made of plastic material and slid into the housing periphery 2 of the electric motor so that it embraces the pump housing from the outside and thereby imparts stability to it.The pump bores 15, 16 extend radially outwardly and are closed by plugs 22, 23 which bear against the inside of the electric motor housing 2.Because the pump housing is made of plastic material, it can additionally be used as a brush support plate for the brushes 24, 25 of the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 5984651
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hydraulic brake system which operates by the feedback principle during brake slip control operations and includes a self-priming pump that aspirates pressure fluid from a pressure fluid reservoir for traction slip control operations. In order to improve the delivery rate of the pump, having a parallel arrangement of the two suction valves, a special construction of the pump-assembly is proposed, wherein the two suction valves are integrated in the pump housing. Advantageously, the suction valves are in axially opposed relationship, and the first suction valve is arranged on the movable piston, and the second suction valve is connected with a screw cap. Further, a pump for a slip-controlled hydraulic brake system according to the present invention is suggested having at least one suction valve with a valve seat, a closure member and a valve spring, the preload of the valve spring being variable in response to the position of a delivery piston.

  • Patent number: 5932945
Abstract: A motor-and-pump assembly includes armature shaft of the electric motor which is retained in the pump housing by way of a main bearing and an auxiliary bearing. The objective is to align the motor housing centrically to the axis of the armature and, in addition, to achieve a reliable attachment of the motor housing to the pump housing. Therefore, the housing of the electric motor has a bowl-shaped design, and the rim of the motor housing is inserted into a concentrically circumferential groove in a flange surface on the pump housing. The diameter of the inner wall of the groove corresponds to the inside diameter of the motor housing. Thus, the inside wall of the motor housing abuts on the inner rim of the groove. The motor housing is thereby aligned centrically. The motor housing can simply be fastened to the pump housing by a clamping ring which is also inserted into the groove.

  • Patent number: 5895207
Abstract: An assembly, consisting of a motor and a pump, the motor being arranged in a motor housing and the pump in a pump housing. Both housings can be coupled to each other. The motor housing is provided with a second main bearing. The pump housing is equipped with a pump bearing. During normal operation, the forces acting on the pump eccentric are essentially supported by the main bearing and the pump bearing. The bearing forces are introduced into the pump housing. If the motor housing is not fastened to the pump housing, the rotor shaft is supported by the main bearing and, if necessary, an accessory bearing. Thus the motor can be tested without being connected to the pump housing.

  • Patent number: 5894180
Abstract: The application describes an electric motor with a pressure compensation device. This device consists of a BTFE membrane that is arranged in a connecting channel between the interior of the electric motor and the external air.The membrane is arranged in the shield of the electric motor. Since the shield consists of plastic, the membrane can be sprayed on during the manufacture of the shield such that the membrane is inseparably connected to the shield. However, other fastening methods can be considered. One particularly suitable location for arranging the membrane is a circumferential collar that serves for centering the housing relative to the motor shaft. The connecting channel is realized in the form of a slot on the outer side of the collar. The application also describes additional methods for attaching the membrane.
